Armageddon MUD
« on: January 29, 2015, 04:29:12 am »

Woah! Have any of you guys ever heard of this game? I don't want to sound like I'm trying to sell it, but I just started maybe a month ago and it is blowing my mind. I'm posting it here because the learning curve is just as intense, but rewarding.

It's a MUD, so it's a text based adventure, but I love to read and these guys take the cake on making a beautifully fleshed out world. It's essentially a game where you play as a commoner in a society, on a desert planet that is metal dry and is pitted to survive against the environment, warring factions, the giant insects and lizards that inhabit this world, and the primal demihumans called gith. It's absolutely insane the amount of detail in this game.

Here's the link: http://armageddon.org

I sincerely would like to see some of you give it a try, even if the first few hours seem like a chore. The community is absolutely loving, even if the world is harsh and if you are absolutely stuck feel free to PM me and I will try to help you get into it.

The closest thing I can give you for interpretation is Dune or Darksun.

Hope that spikes some interest. The pics are for flavor.

Hmm...
It really depends on whether or not this works on an iPad and is in fact interesting, but I may play it.

You would want a keyboard and a good internet connection, bud. I don't think an iPad would do.

Eh. My laptop is getting fixed right now, so...
I'll give it a try when I get my laptop back, I suppose.

God damn, I'd love this game if it weren't so intimidating.
I'll give it another go, eventually.

I'm fairly sure there's already a thread for this.

Yeah, those first couple of days, man. Stick with it, I swear. Run around town and talk to folks. If this game is about friend helping other players, then WoW is a hack and slash. Pm me where you are in the process and I can provide support.

I played Armageddon years ago (it's been around for ages).  I played a drunk in Allanak who heard voices and talked to himself.  I was useless at everything, but ended up being a general message boy for a noble who could quite easily have had me executed on a whim.  Fun times.  It's probably changed a lot since.  :)

I'm trying to urge more people to play. I love the game, but the community is so small and fragile at the moment, playing past peak is worthless. More bodies is always a good thing, and every win in this game feels hard earned and worth it. I'm sharing the love.
