Megaproject: The Dark Portal
« on: January 13, 2015, 02:43:43 am »

Im brainstorming ideas, which may or may not include creating a safe tunnel through the circus, for a device that will either teleport dwarves or make then vanish "into another dimension". Bonus points for avoiding death flags and unhappy thoughts.

Im going to make a large scale version of the Dark Portal from warcraft, and when complete send every last Dwarf into it.

What glitches or features exist which force dwarves into places they should not be?

If I understand correctly, the second dorf will see the first dorf's corpse before he dies.
So it is not easy to hide death flags.

Yep. So Ive been googling DF glitches to see if I could get an in-map teleporter or something that can only be interpreted as a trans dimensional gateway.

None of the dwarves need to return, only safely disappear.

Like this?

It's not only that, but it's close.

If there are witnesses, yes. I don't think it does otherwise.

You could also experiment with one of the features of the happy fun stuff.

I think making them drop into raw magma flow tiles should do the trick, just pump the magma sea away. funny things happen when you channel into slade from above and drop things into it.

Maybe bottomless glowing pits in Circus? Dwarves should simply disappear if thrown into one.

No meter what type of taking care about your dwarf you will use, close to this dwarves willl be unhappy, because They will be missing him. Did you saw Back to the Future? You can order your dorf to ride your minecart (just by closing doors when he will come to your portal section) and then accelerate this minecart... to shot it off from map...

WARNING: If you will come to your fortress from side, where your cannon was... look out for superfast bullets with living meat inside.

Dwarven wine is a little bit like good chicken soup:  solid at room temperature.

Sparring can teleport one to the other side of a wall.

Riding a flying mincart throgh magmafall is also an idea.

I think the mod ¤Masterwork¤ has a teleporter building. Maybe you can copy that.
