If your socialist or green party gets to be important enough, whichever of the big too parties is closest is all but required to absorb it into their general platform. If they don't, a serious third party run guarantees that they lose.

I dont think he'd do it to prove a point.  I think he would tank the world economy out of ineptitude.

^

So with the all the fun and games of the Republican primary effectively over, do we think we'll see a softening and moderating of Trump to woo those pesky undecideds? Or will he go Full Trump on the general elections?

I'd honestly question the judgment of anyone who still feels unsure, after all this circus, who they'd vote for.

Honestly? When it comes down to Hillary or Trump I have no idea... It's two extremely unlikable candidates... one of which is a known devil and the other is a joker... which card do you pick? Bernie's even soured on me recently, but not enough to make me stop hoping against hope that the dems would see reason to push him into the nomination.

And then there's the misanthropic part of me that wants to vote trump in the hopes he'll ruin everything and we'll hear a resounding chorus of voices from other countries around the world. "I told ya so." And we can start again in 4 years, digging out the rubble of our government services in order to, with bloody fingers, scrawl our votes on burnt and torn public library pages. A mute three armed mutant looms over the election box. Gruff, and statuesquely silent, he watches over the election process. It would be incorrect to say he suffered the worst during the Trump lordship, many more had suffered far worse, and it took thousands of his kind to finally rise up and overthrow the Governtrump, march into the Trump house, and break down the door to the Trumpal Trumpface and put an end to the horror. We'd all suffered of course, but he and his kin, a result of Trump runoff, had suffered worse than most. And now, he and his kin stand watch. Making sure the process goes on. Making sure the selections are fair, and just and that we never forget what our folly had done such a short time ago. Making sure that, we the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity so ordain that we will never make the same mistake again.

I can't wait to see how Glenn Beck responds to all this.

We're hoping for tears at least.

I hear that from a lot of my friends. It strikes me as a dodge. At this point I've gotten over my reluctance to voting for Hilary. I dislike her but not enough to forego voting entirely, not when something that stupid is potentially on the horizon. It's essentially how I've felt the whole time. I was hoping I'd have an alternative I felt good about taking a risk on in Bernie but he does not appear like he's going to go the distance.

I wonder though. With how much the Republican party has been denouncing Trump, can they really stand behind him with shit-eating grins on come the General Election? Will they dis him further with half-measures of support? I mean, it really is too delicious that the Republican party is stuck with a candidate they hate but that their base wants.

Yeah, it looked to me like some kind of desperate attempt to make Trump play his VP card with a side of 'nothing to lose'. Seriously though, who announces their VP pick in late April? I guess he was banking on what he thought would be Trumps impulsiveness, but nope, he didn't take the bait.

With the way things have been going, the Republican party is facing a shift. So yeah, all the #NeverTrump are going to put on their best "after much discussion and reflection" speeches or else get put out in the cold, at least for this year, maybe longer if Trump wins.

So Trump now has a 99% chance of winning on predictwise, along with Clinton's 97% chance.  It seems that soon America will chose between electing the first woman president or the last president.

Since I am now the unquestionable winner of the Republican Hunger Games, we should move on to VP Roulette for Clinton and Trump.

So it appears I was pretty much right. In the end, it's Clinton v. Trump with Clinton likely to win. The only really surprising thing has been Kasich, who has stubbornly held on for about 6 months longer than I thought he would.

I think you're both going to be disappointed. That's because we've made it to the part that I've been waiting for for months and several times feared wouldn't happen: the kowtowing of the entire Republican/Conservative sphere to the will of Trump. I fully expect every pundit, politician, pastor to suddenly forget that they've spent the better part of the year demonizing the man and move straight on to holding him up as the apotheosis of all thing presidential and how dare you suggest they ever felt otherwise.

Trump is the perfect example of Christianity despite having never opened a Bible in years or being able to name a single verse. Trump is the perfect Republican, never mind that he was a registered Democrat twelve months ago. Trump is the perfect patriotic American despite importing his wives from abroad. Remember when the Billy Graham institute purged it's complaints about Mormonism when Romney won last time around? This is going to be that on steroids. The Right is about to undertake lobotomy on itself with a battleaxe in order to achieve conformity with it's new avatar. I can hardly wait for the backpedaling to begin.

Maybe from the establishment. As far as the voters go, I know several people already that are going to vote Trump. The common line I hear is "Hey, he'll get things done." Believe me, there is zero cognitive dissonance in his actual base. And yet people don't seem invested like they were when it was Romney or Bush running. There's a devil-may-care attitude around some of the Republicans I know that are going to vote Trump. Which is just as alarming as zealotry in some ways.
