I wonder, was there ever a proposal by one of the party to have its candidates elected by majority vote?

Exit polls indicating heavy black turnout in SC. Cue the bloodbath.
Polls close in 5 minutes.

That kind of happened in 2000 when it went to the Supreme Court.

Though, what do you mean? Majority vote, represented through the delegates, is usually how it works.

We all know Clinton will win this, it's only a matter of how much she'll win by (or from another perspective, how much Sanders will lose by).

Anybody have a clue as to who that Wilson guy on the ballot is?

Probably somebody suggested it back in '68 when they were switching to the current system.

Willie Wilson (born June 16, 1948)is an American businessman and politician from Chicago, Illinois. He has owned and operated several different McDonald's restaurant franchises and owns Omar Medical Supplies, which imports and distributes latex gloves and other medical and safety supplies and equipment. He also produces the nationally syndicated gospel music television program "Singsation" which won an Emmy Award in 2012.

So, a cheap Democratic amalgam of Ben Carson and Herman Cain?
I'm guessing South Carolina has pretty low standards to get on the ballot.

His chief claim to political fame seems to be that he got 11 percent of the vote in the mayoral race for Chicago, which forced a runoff (which Rahm Emanuel won).

CNN already projecting "crushing victory" for Clinton based off of 0.7% reporting. No agendas here... ::)

Theres ~8-10% reporting now, and EVERYBODY knew that she was going to win SC anyway, not so much agenda than stating the obvious. Though I agree that it's rather silly to project a winner before any significant number of votes are in.

Also, looks like Sanders might lose by an even bigger margin than Nate Silver predicted the lead to be. Probably going to be like 40% difference.

About the "Democratic trifecta" - they didn't have a filibuster proof majority in the senate for most of the time iirc. It didn't help that Ted Kennedy was inconveniently dying of brain cancer while they needed every vote for the affordable care act, and that after he passed away, he was replaced by Scott Brown (R) in the special election, forcing the Democrats to pass the ACA via reconciliation, bypassing the filibuster, but limiting what could be in it iirc.

I assume I'm not misremembering anything much!

You'll have to put down other states as one of those that gave that particular shitty thing on Super Tuesday because while everybody knew that Sanders was going to do poorly, I'm not sure if anybody anticipated him doing THAT poorly with a roughly 50 percentage point difference. Which isn't a good sign for Sanders going forward.

She's up 49.4% with 60% reporting, according to the Guardian. Sanders will probably gain some as more urban areas report in, but she's still going to beat that margin remarkably well.

Looking at exit polls, Clinton even won the voters who said income inequality was their biggest issue, and voters who said the US economic system favors the wealthy. By more than 2-1 margins.

Fuck it, it's over. She won the propaganda war. And I have never been happier to be an independent. I guess I'll vote in the GOP primary on 3/15, because there will be fuck-all reason to bother with the Dem primary by then. I can try to make sure our sane Republican Ag Commissioner doesn't get primaried out, and maybe I'll vote Jim Gilmore for shits and giggles.

Voting Trump in the primary doesn't really do shit. And I don't know that I could deal with the guilt if I voted Trump in the general and he won. I honestly don't know what I'll do on November 4. Probably stay home and drink and cry. Or vote all the downballot shit and write in Kim Jong Un for the Presidential race.
