I always wonder, how can grotesque people be so narcissistic? I suppose most people like that don't have much self awareness, that's how they can avoid seeing what we see.

I was happy to see the Scottish Green Party leader Patrick Harvie quoted in this Pittsburgh online news article a while ago.

Quote from: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
In Scotland, The Glasgow Herald said his comments about Mexicans put at risk his Turnberry resort’s status as one of the traditional hosts of golf’s prestigious Open Championship as organizers were worried they would hurt the brand.

“The more we learn about this greedy, racist bully, the more ashamed we should be of letting him establish any presence at all in Scotland,” Patrick Harvie, a leader of the Scottish Greens party and member of the Scottish parliament, told the Herald.

Mr. Harvie is right. He's referring to how, at one time, the SNP under Alex Salmond courted Donald Trump so he could invest a lot in the North East of Scotland, building a big golf enterprise up there. At the time I think much was made of Trump's Scottish connections. They have of course parted company acrimoniously since then and the venture was widely discredited because it wasn't exactly environmentally-friendly and Trump will always be a colossal arsehole.

I wonder if he'll mention Scotland at all in his campaign. He's already done so once in a recent debate with Rand Paul where they discussed healthcare models:

You know, Trump has been talking about how (in his vague way) he would bring jobs and companies back into the US, but none of the candidates have ever talked about it to my knowledge.

If Bernie Sanders wins the Democratic nomination and Donald Trump wins the Republican nomination, who might win the Presidency? Am I a strange fellow for really, really hoping this happens?

It's too soon to say with any accuracy since that'll be a break with all we know and love, but existing data favors Sanders.

If Bernie Sanders wins the Democratic nomination and Donald Trump wins the Republican nomination, who might win the Presidency?

This projects pretty wide margins for a Sanders victory, but it might be too early to tell. As far as I know though, Trump is shown losing pretty handily to pretty much every democratic candidate at this point. Again though, that's probably just because we're still in the middle of a relatively vicious primary.

Be still, my beating heart. The US electing Sanders as President... it would be incredible. I think this is the first US Presidential election where I've actually felt a degree of excitement, apart from the 2008 Obama campaign I mean. I may follow this one closely.

At the end of the day, Sanders is a veteran politician and Trump is a massive tool. It'll be at least as hard for him to overcome that as it'll be for Sanders to overcome being a self-described socialist. Plus, the rarely motivated 18-24 group is going to have blood in the water should Sanders actually win the nomination.

He's atypically popular there.

I think that MSH means that most of the time, 18-24 year olds are disinterested in politics, thinking that the system has failed, and such. Hillary isn't going to really motivate them to go vote, and neither will any Republican, except maybe Paul. Now, if Sanders gets nominated, they'll come out to vote in droves.
Who?
Bernie Sanders.

Anyways, I've yet to hear Sanders say anything about how he would deal with China and also work on getting jobs and companies back into the US.

Probably mainly because the media attention has been on Trump mostly (Sanders is rapidly rising though) and there hasn't been any democratic debates yet.

October 13th is the first Democratic debate, for reference.

He's also an unapologetic socialist, which is a very very bad word for huge parts of america. The only reason he beats trump is because trump is such a joke. A real republican candidate would eat him alive - Barring some kind of act of god there's realistically zero chance of sanders being the next president.

It really doesn't have any Communist connotations to me. Actually, I'm not even sure what being 'socialist' is supposed to mean politically as far as his positions. It's supposed to be to the far left I think, further left than liberal I think.

Edit: Would 'act of God' include Trump going independent and splitting the vote between whoever is the republican nominee? I could see that potentially going for Sanders.
