Yeah, let's have exterior cameras connected to the ships mainframey thing instead. They'll serve the same porpoise, but be less vulnerable.

Boarding hooks serve no purpose. They take up space. Drones can handle anything they could do and take up considerably less space. Since they can just latch on to the exterior of the hull.

Though perhaps some kind of more permanent, anchored clamps for more secure docking/attachment?

Drones are not nearly as efficient as Boarding Hooks for disabling Giant Whales and Dispatching Galleons, Besides have you no love for the classics?

Evil Space Alien Whales and Metal Scifi Galleons, We'll use chrome boarding hooks to combat them of course. We should also equip every Drone with a Tricorne Hat and make its wearing mandatory.
