Ara can tank... when she's there. So every session after the next one. Except by then she'll be underleveled.
See, the thing is, I want to hand out levels, but I get the feeling that if I do, it'll ruin the experience of being Level X, because you never actually cast your armor spell or whatever.
Eh? That armor power is going to be one of her biggest mainstays for the entire campaign, thanks to how psionics work. Every additional 2pp spent = an extra +1AC. The Can't Touch This train has no breaks.

Yeah, all that PsyWar 2 does is give me a second 1st level power and a bonus feat. Not even sure what I'd take for the power (or the feat lol), since Inertial Armor was far and away the best option. Force Screen if I wanted even more tankiness (though the scaling is worse, but then it
is a shield rather than armor bonus), Stomp (for AoE CC, but with Refl negation it's meh even at low levels), Elfsight for minor situational utility.
I do have a question in that regard, though. Read the rules for
Claws of the Beast, specifically the bit about how you can full attack and neither claw attack counts as a secondary attack, nor is it treated as TWF. Would you rule that Ara could stack that with her Unarmed Strike on full attacks? I'm not going to touch the Claw powers if they're going to override my unarmed damage, since they're altogether inferior when compared directly, but if they
can stack that gives me some diversity down the line if I take Claws of the Vampire and Claw of Energy as well.

Regardless of that, if you really need an excuse, one is ready-made. Ara was Monk 2, an impetuous student set loose on the world before she was ready. I was already planning on playing the multiclass into PsyWar as a spiritual awakening; she's been off meditating and coming to terms with her new insight into herself and the world.
