Any advantages to picking one place or another?

Mostly. The Gatemaster is the hardest of the three bosses, but he should be beatable. By beating him, you'll have first dibs in the treasury, but the other two parties that defeat the other bosses are ensured loot as well.

I'm also writing the character statuses in the second post.

Lighthouse. That sounds like the most interesting boss.

Ask about the history of the tower and the bosses, who the exposition man is, why we're statues, etc?

Jump the giant, because virtual reality doesn't have IRL repercussion.

so it seems to be a raid.

convince other shield-bearing characters to form a shield wall and march onto the gate. A small block of 10 should suffice.

Rachel approaches the giant man while the other parties discuss which boss they should take.

"Where did this tower come from?" she asks quietly.

"It sprung from the depths only a few days ago. That is why I've awakened all the heroes. At least, as much as I could."

"Why were we statues?"

"A long, long time ago, back when Atlantis was one unified land, the Atlanteans were beings of great power. When the dungeons sprang up from the depths, the Atlantean champions fought them and sunk them. Atlantis has sunken itself in its hubris, I'm afraid. It was I who took the children of Atlantis and turned them to stone, to save them from the Flood and to awaken them to fight if the Dungeons were to rise again."

"So, who are you?"

"My name? I've forgotten. My purpose is clear, however, to awaken the heroes from their petrified slumber."

Sarah walks up to where the giant and Rachel are talking and puts an arm around Rachel's shoulders. "Are you a staff member? I mean, this is a game, so are you like, just really in-character?"

The giant smiles. "I am an AI NPC, I'm afraid."

"Yes, but where did it come from before that? Why was it down there originally, and why is it made to attract monsters?"

Demand that the giant remember his name.

He must have written it down somewhere.

What kind of person goes and forgets their name?

"We do not know. The dungeons have been gone for a thousand years. Some great evil lurks beneath the waters. Deep beneath the sea lives millions of evil creatures, who desperately wish to escape their watery prison and control the Islands."

Neil crosses his arms and demands the giant's name. "What kind of person forgets their name?"

"A two thousand year old servant who's been tending to statues for a millennium. You may call me Guide, however."

"Why the crap didn't you keep a journal? And why the crap didn't you go out and interact with people? Normally people go craaaaaaaazy when they're alone for a long time. Just look at Napoleon."

Alright, plan: Find one of the more humanoid bosses, and press for answers.

Time to do some investigation. After defeating a boss, that is.

There is a party screen in the second post now, with some info on how turns and combat works.

Still it is a 60er PVE raid.

Neil demands everyone to fall into formation and March towards the enemy. Tanks in middle, Rogues and Warriors on the flanks, Rangers in front, squishies at the back. Oh and bards please cuddle together, this make your HoT cooldown lower.
