What Bay12 got for Wintereenmas
« on: December 26, 2014, 12:48:41 am »

Hey, all, wanted to get the discussion out of the happy thread, even though it's sufficiently happy material, but it was clogging the place up.

Here's the place to list the goods, services, and other what-have-you-now that you got for your particular winter holiday.

I got a massive haul, including a new keyboard (Logitech 510s), favorite team gear (blanket and slippers, and hat and scarf to go with my coat that I already have,) art kit, book shaped box, various clothes (including two Hobbit t-shirts,) an art kit, a huge-enormous quilt from my grandmaster quilter grandmother (she puts the grandma in grandmaster, legitimately the leader of her guild for 40 years, the quilt alone is rumored to be worth thousands of dollars but she won't tell my mom what its actual value is,) X-COM: Enemy Within, and of course, the handful of games from Aristabulus' giveaway.

What all did you get?

I got a rock.

I got High-End computer parts! Specifically, a Radeon R9, a Razer Deathstalker, a 750 Watt PSU for the parts!

...But really, who cares about those? The most SIGNIFICANT gift is the SOCKS! WONDERFUL, LOVELY SOCKS! Doctor Who themed socks! With TARDISes on them! :D

A theremin, some candy, a crossbow dwarf figurine and Kraken socks from my parents.
$20 for steam also from my parents, but I spent that on a gift for my friend.
A puzzle game from my grandparents.
$50 from my other grandparents, which I used to repay my dad for XCOM Enemy Unknown and watch the Hobbit.
A tie from my girlfriend.

One-man backpacking tent.
New high-end headphones.
Incredibly comfortable new down liner/jacket.
XKCD's What If? The Book.
$80 in cash.

Christmakwannzika is amazing.

Went to see the finishing chapter to The Hobbit in the afternoon.
It wasn't the worst of the three. That's all I can say.

I just found a barrel which contained a wheelbarrow. Inside the wheelbarrow was another barrel. I don't even understand how that is possible.

Parents got me:
Ibanez bass guitar and amp beginner starter kit. Includes guitar, amp, case, cords, tuner, and stand.
4 books of assorted music stuff. 1 book is "bass guitar for dummies" if I ever feel I need to read it, other 3 are books of classical sheet music and classical guitar stuff.

I bought myself:
5 CDs: Deftones, Attack Attack!, Ra, Jack Johnson, Tool. Good haul from Half-Price Books' CD collection.
Borderlands The Presequel. Not bad. Not as fun as the first two games though. Mildly disappointed in that purchase, but whatever.
A hat.

One of my mom's friends got me:
A bunch of snacks. homemade cookies, candy, a bag of instant hot chocolate. Good snacks.

I bought my parents 2 t-shirts sporting my college logo on it. So now they can brag about me going to college and making them oh so proud just by wearing a shirt.

I feel hella materialistic by typing this all out. Best Christmas gift is the 38 day long break away from college though.

A nice shirt, some chilli chocolate, and mysteriously, a blender. O_o I seem to have reached the age where you receive kitchen appliances for xmas. It's all downhill from here.

Titanfall looks exciting but I've heard up and down things about it.

I got money for the most part, all the half-life games and dino d-day.

I will use the money to get 4 tragus piercings probably.

Aerosmith CD (Pump), Bon Jovi CD, two novels, a sculpting book, and some polymer clay. Also a grapefruit that may or may not actually be an orange. It's a pretty good haul.

I am so looking forward to trying out the clay.

@smeeprocket- ya..... I wish I could give you a review of it but I havnt been able to get on and check it out. Apparently the xbox one requires a system update when you first turn it on and since the xbox servers were hacked yesterday I couldn't get it to update sooooo YAY! *the anger brews slowly

I told everyone, "do not buy me anything, I don't celebrate," very vocally and repeatedly, and I still managed a tremendous haul. The in-laws really like holidays, though.
