Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

I know python myself but I imagine my main skill would be knowledge of micro-economics.

I people wanted to help me bridge the gaps between economic engine and game interface I could be very helpful on the engine side.

I'm quite handy with C++. I am familiar with SFML which is good for game making. Also I have dabbled with LibTCOD if you want to make a roguelike economics game

Well it seems more people know C++ then python.  Not too surprising I guess.

I could get on board with a roguelike where I would supply the algorithms for markets and you provide the rouguelike interface on top of it.  Something like a trader game where you go from city to city buying goods and making factories but there is an underlying logical market to the cities.

I'm pretty good with Python as well, incidentally. I've used libtcod if we want to go the roguelike route.

I was imagining something a little like the Capitalism series, just not outdated by a billion years.

Should we start a new thread?

Should we start a new thread?

That would seem like a good idea, but it should be started by someone who is ready to take upon themselves the task of coordinating such a project - I'm sure not ready for this...

If Bay12 ever got serious about actually making an economics game, I could write music for it, but I would have no idea how to actually implement it into the game lol.

That was an interesting thread hijack. Haha.

I'm still playing this, despite its faults. It's kinda satisfying to build business relationships with players and expand your company and such.

Wouldn't it be reasonable to just tie some utility value to every in-game item that dictates how much the AI consumer can pay for stuff before it becomes too expensive and consumer stops buying?
Price elasticity of demand.
That's a phrase I learned in AS Economics :v
