Fair enough! Maybe in that case try building platforms across the ocean, so you can order marksdwarves to kill the jellyfish and they'll have a way to get in range? Also iirc the sea serpent trap involves draining the ocean as well...

I could drain the ocean, I was just hoping to not do that.

The jellyfish like to hang about two levels down, I built lower traps. Well they just lead to the upper-lower traps, since that container can't be drained so I wouldn't be able to retrieve cages) to try to accommodate them. No luck so far. Going to take a break I think to try out an evil area. I've pretty much beaten the game on that embark, there aren't many megabeasts, I think I fought the most dangerous one already (a hydra, and I lost a lot of legendary warriors.) Staring at the ASCII sea nonstop gets monotonous.

Anyone had luck to test these raws yet to see if the reactions and products work as expected?

I am diligently trying to wall of various parts of cavern and surface to induce more marine animals coming on to the map on my current seaside fortress. I think FPS will kill me before anything swims into the traps, however.
