What a wonderful late Xmas present!

After stating valar morghulis in Steam IM (because I felt a reminder of mortality was relevant to the conversation), he uttered his "gay of thrones" line, and I called him out on offensive usage.  (my exact words were not the all-caps thing Xeron posted; it was a verbose version of "that is really not okay, doing it again will have consequences")  When he tried to spin it that gay really means "happy"...  I called him out on that too, because there was no way that was what he meant.  Standing up for queer family members and friends makes me a "SJW Tumblrina", apparently...  and then he unfriended/blocked me on Steam.

So, yeah.  Xeron responding incredibly poorly was the catalyst for expunging him; if he had simply said "sorry" and moved on, he would not have gotten himself nuked out of the giveaway.  Complaining about not winning things in the giveaway (multiple times across multiple days) was more the underlying cause, however.  While several people have invoked greed in jest during sign-ups, actual genuine greed doesn't get to play here.

The icing on the cake was that this all occurred early in the morning for me on Xmas Day; getting blocked because I wouldn't tolerate his poor choice of words & attitude was the best Xmas present I got all day.  Blessed silence while I toiled at my work.

The fact that he came here to try to stir up a mob only confirms that I made the correct choice.

I considered the matter closed when I removed him two mornings ago, and I still consider the matter closed.  Think what you will.

The catalyst was personal, but it was the last straw on a pile of mounting evidence that getting loot was the only reason for his participation.  Skyrunner hit the bullseye; complaining about not winning repeatedly does not show a person's character to be in the spirit of the season.  I brushed it off as a having a rough day in RL the first time it happened...  but it continued to happen, and my sense of humour waned.

If you want to have an opinion about that, go right ahead.  I won't lose sleep over it.  Results will not (cannot) be reversed at this point, and the giveaway is all but done.

I muted Xeron and Valid_Dark for flaming/bigotry/etc., 3 days each.  I'm not going to try to adjudicate the giveaway removal argument, and it's not really my place -- I left some of the newer posts intact on that, though I removed some non-offensive posts that were surrounded by garbage.  If people want to have a voice in these kinds of disputes here, they should reflect on the forum guidelines before posting.
