He waved off any further protests from the nun. Sheltered as she was, she wouldn't recognize a 'right moment' if it slapped her and he didn't feel like being her scapegoat. He was more concerned about Lucrezia's fainting spell.

"I-I'm o-o-ok. I-I j-just w-wasn't p-prepeared for a k-k-ki-, for t-that."
She averted her eyes from Beryn, blushing furiously.

"I'll ask next time. Promise."


Beryn crossed his heart with his right hand to show his sincerety.

Amberly felt as though she had been slapped by the generally-genial wyvern knight. All she had meant was that they were in possibly hostile territory, and that if they came under attack then they would need everyone on their feet and not feeling lightheaded. The nun actually thought it was a bit sweet, even if the timing was (to her) lousy.

And she hadn't meant to sound angry at all! Had it come out that way? She didn't know, so she did the only thing that came to mind. She backed off a couple of steps and bowed slightly.

: "Forgive me", she murmured, then looked away. The number of people on this crew that actually tolerated her seemed to be dwindling even further.

Beryn turned to her with a sigh.

"...Look here, now. I ain't mad at you. Out of everybody here you've got the most to be upset about, and I get that. I was worried about Luce myself just now, you know? Wanna just say we smooth it over and stay friends?"

[Haspen]

"Beryn how did ya get from making Luc faint to the Old Gods. Are they gonna be responsible for everything bad that happens?" Ethan looked at Lucrezia to make sure she wasn't dying of anything. Margaret waited a bit more, and then led everyone between the trees.

~~Chapter 8: Pillar of the Voices~~

Soon they have reached a pillar that stretched into the sky for a while, looking not so different from just a peculiarly shaped tower. The only problem was lack of door - however the Boss quickly solved that problem by touching seemingly random part of the pillar's wall. With a click and a hiss, part of the wall to her left side slid open. All they could see inside was dimly lit, short in length, tunnel, with a closed door at the end and a set of stairs going up somewhere in the middle of the corridor.

"We go up. Please do not operate any equipment you might find inside. If anything, please ask me questions or call me over." With that, Margaret led them inside and them up the stairs.

"Hmm! I hear hissing!" There was no hissing.

"I don't hear anything..."

Beryn ducked his head as he entered astride Prata, happy there was a building big enough the wyvern could actually enter for once.

"You know, I could just fly to the top, see what's going on up there."

"Prata's pretty strong and stupid. I wouldn't put it past him to bash his way through a wall!"

Amberly, who had been silent for a while, perked up when she saw more of the active wall panels.
