Honestly, it's not like replanting seeds works, or was done often before this entire Monsanto debacle. Hybridization, by the very mechanics by which it works, will automatically result in degraded specimens if replanted. The only way to counter that is through using dedicated, inbred elite strains, and use those to produce generation upon generation of hybridized seeds. (An Alternative being cloning the plants, of course). Your average farmer has the capability to do neither, so honestly, that entire issue is moot.

Even if Monsanto allowed people to replant their seeds, the results would be vastly inferior.

Actually, it's the monocultures that are inferior. Without genetic diversity that comes from cross-polination, a disease that affects the crop will wipe out the entire batch.

Unlikely, they'd just form their own republic with their private army and copious amount of resources.
What resources? The worthless paper or the useless metal?
Step 1: Spray herbicides all over target land.
Step 2: Move in Blackwater units.
Step 3: Plant herbicide resistant GM crops.

Rinse, repeat. They'd become the sole producers of food in their immediate vicinity, Princes of the apocalypse.

Hybridization does not require monocultures to function. Sure, you'll never get the variety that a cross-pollinated field has, but with a few strains you'll come a long way.

Some people still grow non-F1 crops, and non GM crops aswell.
Granted, they are in the minority but the point stands. Add to the fact that most seed packets list if its F1 or the other thing that I cant remember (OP?), people should be able to replant seeds.

But yah, F1 crops need new seed each year.
