Bay 12 Apocalypse Plan
« on: November 17, 2014, 06:19:10 pm »

Let's develop a plan of how to survive the apocalypse caused by the collapse of civilization.  Let's find some areas that we could meet up at in order to survive and potentially rebuild into a new civilization, as well as jobs, what people could bring, etc.

Oregon is heavily forested and isolated. Could be a good spot.

Step 1: sabotage any attempts at survival.
Step 2: sit back and watch the spectacle.

Nova Scotia is remote, plus it has a bit of an isolated climate comparable with, say, Long Island. Plus, some people say that a bunch of people running from the vikings when they came over went there, so...

Grab what gear we can, particularly seeds, renewable power guff, weapons, meds, more meds, books on how to do shit, etc. and head there?

If civilization were to collapse, I'm skeptical that getting together with bay12ers would be my best hope for survival.

If society collapses, I'll wear this image on my hat.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I think that'll do for any apocalypse plans concerning bay12. If you see it hold your fire, hehe.

Honestly, mechanical computers are nowhere close to a priority in such a situation.
You should rather tell of the people who can farm, build shelters, survive in extreme climates/situations, hunt, fight if it needs to be. Smelting, if you want to get fancy homemade tools rather than simply looting the old civilization.
Or the people who can build a generator to power all the technology we have now. Or some simple mechanisms like a mill.

why single out mechanical computers out of all of this?

My apocalypse plan is a garden hose and enough gasoline to kill myself.

Why the fuck would you want to survive the apocalypse?

If everybody who expected to survive the apocalypse actually did, it wouldn't be the apocalypse.  It'd be Tuesday.

Shoot myself.
What?
I don't want to live without wifi. And if we did get wifi, the only thing that would be discussed is 'a zombie ate my mom.' 'oh, that's too bad. zombies ate my mum too.'

You have a terrible suicide plan.

You want to survive the apocalypse to study its effects, obviously.  Id be most interested in that . . . after I get done looting all the goodies.  I figure if only 90% die, theres enough canned food in America to last long enough to figure out how to gut cows and hook up some kind of generator.

Ill kindly ask one of the cataclysm players to hook up solar power, tho. :/

I'd survive for a while (Assuming I survived the initial apocalypse).

I could manage by scavenging and raiding, until either my luck ran out or supplies ran out. I have n knowledge of agriculture, so I'd have to rely on hunting or other people to get enough food. In a group, I'd do ok. One with a strong leader would be good, as I'm comfortable following orders.

Yah, no. Wrong people for that. From what I have seen on that (Mostly in connection to boat wiring from the 80s and 90s) wiring solar is kinda nasty to get right, atleast with 9v and 12v systems...
