I think Alys's death is the only video game character death that actually kinda got me. I thought for sure killing Zio would save her, and it doesn't help she was my favorite character up to that point.

After that it was Wren all the way, to the point that when I was grinding against sand worms late in the game I would try to get the rest of the party killed so he would get all the XP. Probably stupid but I was like... nine or so.

Hrmm. Methinks the plot shift is a bit of a harsh in that if you built your character as one who is faithful to one of the old gods, it's disenfranchising that character early on before they have much of a chance to define themselves by their faith.

Because the gods are apparently fake. >.>

Luckily Alicia isn't faith based, so she's not effected too bad.

Since I'm apparently the one with the major issue here, I'll just explain it here once and for all and then hopefully we can stop talking about this.

For me, I personally signed up for this game expecting fantasy, pirates, and adventure. Which is a very specific focus and means one thing to me. Instead, suddenly and with little warning (really no warning in game, and a little warning in the lore) we're playing sci-fi, alien gods, and spaceships and apocalypse, which is a very different feeling game, has another focus even if it still includes sailing and pirates, and means something completely different to me. This complete and sudden shift to a completely different genre is the big rub for me. Add into that the fact that these aliens will always outclass as as proven by all the technology they once gave us and that Hasp has now very specifically said will be plot only and not available to us means that either the aliens are going to need to get dumbed down somehow or we're going to have to go dues ex machina with the one lone good alien to defeat all the evil aliens that are trying to destroy the whole world.

I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with the game any longer or not, we'll see.

Maybe you should rely less on the trailers and look more into what will be totally expected :3
I mean, we don't know exactly what really will come up--in detail or in text, but I'm confident along the lines that it's actually not going to be cliche'd like many movies that show that kind'a idea.
