Honestly, I'm surprised I got as much out of the caverns as I did (a lot of gold and a LOT of wood.)  I figured I'd be shutting it down a month after it opened.

How did people become artists before Dwarf fortress anyway?
It certainly helps me that the game gives such comprehensive descriptions of everything.

Just match the last name. You can already see Urvad there.

Mastahcheese's wounds is easily cleared by a bit of wound dressing and suturing.
Soap just cleans it and gives a  :D
Which I lacked.
Just make an aboveground hospital (which I think is visible in one of the screenshots I have there--the northern part of the outer fortress next to a bloody wall) and set the CHIEF MEDICAL DWARF to do nothing.

(It's nice to see it being canon that Urvad becomes mayor.
...4mask didn't die in mine, and Urvad became mayor anyway XD)

(easy fix: just d > n [or is it o?] > RESTRICT River.)
Seems people just wanted to go for a swim...(and died on me :C)

Also...the cavern bridge is retracting. :P

So what I was trying to do with 4maskwolf's death was to muddy up some tiles in the lake biome to see if we could plant some different crops, like an aboveground cloth plant. So I built a pump and since I knew 4maskwolf wasn't doing anything since he was mayor I had him operate it. Screw pumps pump out a lot of water, you see.

And unfortunately, it didn't even work. The farm plot I put down there couldn't grow anything.

Yeah, aboveground farms are a bit screwball.  That's why you have those weird farming pits north of the creek; that's how I could get them to behave right.
Not exactly screwy. Just that farms, if it doesn't have any red text in them, CAN STILL GROW FOOD (despite there being yellow text in them). What Toaster did was make flat land (so no boulders) to impede the farms. They're still aboveground, and...well.
They work quite fine.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO WATER THE AREA TO GROW PLANTS. IT MUST BE ON /NATURAL/ SOIL TO GROW.

Can that happen? Most of my dwarves won't even go to the hospital for a broken finger, or they didn't before .40 at least.
