Vector speaks Russian? I didn't know that. Wow, my Vector-worship-indicator just went one up. That could explain why she liked C&P while RedKing didn't. She got to enjoy Dostojevski's Russian, while RedKing only got a translation. Unless RedKing also speaks Russian, and you're all KGB agents or something.
Ya govaryuu malenkiye po-russki. I used to be halfway decent at it, but that's been many years ago. My problem wasn't with the style or the translation, it was the main character. Raskolnikov is the biggest bipolar wuss in Russian literature.
"I'm a Nietzchean ubermensch! I'm so badass I'll shoot a man in Reno, just to watch him die!"
"Oh god what I have done im a terrible person"
"Ha! No, I'm not! I'm so cool!"
"oh god the police are going to find me"
Grow a pair, son.
Now Oblomov....that's a Russian character (and novel) I can get behind. Yes, he's a complete slacker and wuss. But he's a consistent slacker and wuss. He is the epitome of slackerdom. He is the 19th century Russian equivalent of The Big Lebowski.
I dunno....in general I find Russian comedic literature to be brilliant, because it's so dour and cynical. I find Russian dramatic lit to be tedious, because it's so dour and cyncial.
Also, this idea that I'm a PSB agent and our rivalry dates back to the Sino-Soviet split.....I approve. Your move, tovarisch.
Also also, the fact that Carolina is in the playoffs is as big a surprise to Carolina as it is to everyone else. Thankfully, they drew the Arizona Cardinals last week, the only team that probably deserved to go to the playoffs less than Carolina. This week is gonna be ugly. Wolfeyez and I may have to have a throwdown match of virtual handegg to settle it.
