Silver butter knives, yep. A sharp steel knife, no. Not all kitchen knives make bad weapons. Plenty of people have used them as improvised weapons. Who's to say they wouldn't learn to make daggers anyway?

Also, Kobolds would probably learn to make good non-metal weapons, like obsidian teeth-swords, small rock clubs, stone-tipped spears, bows and arrows (also stone tipped), and stone knives.

Yes, sharp steel kitchen knives make horrible weapons. If you look at a kitchen knife and then a combat knife, you can tell that right away. Kitchen knives haven no reach, no real cutting power, and don't go that deep. There are a few situations when a good combat knife makes a great weapon, that is why even modern militaries keep it just in case. However, making it the main armament is a horrible idea. Think if it this way, a few Gruen with another improvised weapon, the "pointy stick", can kill 90% of kabolds before they get close enough to even use their knife, and the knife has a very small chance to kill them outright and probably won't even make them bleed to death. Improvised weapons don't do well in a war zone.

They could be taught to make daggers, and other weapons, and I would be glad to do it. But he has, IC, stated that they are only equipped with cooking tools and divine magic.

Hmmmm. Rollers as clubs? Still not enough reach. Maybe they could throw fruit cakes and wield cooking torches? Also, that divine magic could be pretty helpful.

EDIT: Ooh, cinnamon is a spice right? Could they use the axes they use to cut down cinnamon trees as weapons? Felling axes don't make great weapons, but they'd be a lot better than most cooking utensils.

I don't think too many of my priests have divine magic. I am against this! Besides, we all have different definitions for things like "priest" and "prophet", trying to force a definition for all of us just doesn't work. For example, I am pretty sure that priest Yaos picked up was juts a random hobo who saw a job opportunity.

Yaos also killed himself, talked to the being that killed him multiple times before, and thinks the Inquisition is a harmless and peaceful group. He isn't the sharpest kitchen knife in the drawer.
