And still she didn't notice his approach.
:"Eh... not like they know what's going on, nothing ever reaches the mountains. Which... must be nice right now, huh."

"Yeah... But I guess we're in this for the long haul. I'm worried about Mason, too. I hope he's doing all right."

Lilly patted the bench on her other side, offering the spot to Tomik.

Tomik slid into the spot indicated and smiled at Lilly.

"We were just talking about where you guys grew up."

Lilly put her hand on Tomik's.

Senija now spotted Tomik and stood up, grabbing her brother's shoulder.
:"Right! I remembered I was mad at you!"

[Swordstar]

"Oh? She hasn't told you any sto---"

Suddenly he was grabbed.

"Ah. Senija, I..."

[Powder Miner]

She grabbed Tomik's other shoulder, tightening her grip on his shoulderplates as she started shouting at him.
:"You used me! You made a threat from me, threatened that I would protect you, and then you just decided that you were just going to toss me aside and let him attack you! You-- you can't just do that, I'm your big sister, not just, a weapon or something! And-- and I was already upset too, but if he'd actually attacked you and-- and actually hurt you... I'd feel... you just can't do that!"
She punctuated this by shaking him a little.

[Swordstar]

"... You're right. I shouldn't have said the things that I did. But..."

He hesitated and then looked up at her again.

"There was going to come a point with him where I needed to deal with him on my own. He wouldn't have respected me if I'd continued to hide behind you and the others. For whatever reason, the group has decided to view me as the leader. And because of that, I need to deal with issues like that. But you're right that the way I went about it was wrong. I should have thought what I was doing to you. And so I'm sorry."

[Powder Miner]

:"But-- but-- what if you'd taken an axe to the head?! You wouldn't be a leader!"
:"You'd be dead!"

[SeriousConcentrate]

Lilly elected to remain silent and not intrude on family matters, though she offered silent support with a hand squeeze.

[Swordstar]

"I take it you don't trust in my ability to dodge or block an axe blow aimed at my head, huh? It's extremely unlikely that I wouldn't have been able to dodge enough at least to make it so I wasn't instantly dead. And then we have plenty of healers who would be on hand to heal me. Even Lilly could have helped if need be. So yes, it wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done, but I thought it was worth it. It was the best solution I saw."

Tomik had provided reasoning, but Senija was still generally upset.
:"What? No! Of course I trust your ability to block a blow, but your hands were to the side and everything, and, I... I was just so worried, I hated it!"

[Swordstar]

Tomik let go of Lilly's hand with a squeeze and reached out and pulled his sister into a hug.

"I'm sorry. I wish I could promise that I would never worry you like that again but I can't. So I guess I'll just promise to do my best. We're in dangerous times and we're going to be putting ourselves in some dangerous situations. But I do know that I'm going to do my best to make sure we all get out of it safely."

Senija hugged Tomik, groaning at him unhappily.
:"Just... just don't do anything stupid, OK? At least be a little more careful than that!"

A slight smirk appeared as he continued to hug his sister.

"Ah, yes, I wouldn't want to appear too similar to you after all."

He slipped out of her arms and ducked, expecting a smack.
