     "We're all clear until your former compatriot, Zane. We can just head over and bypass him--he's not necessarily in our way, in this desert. However, I could ask a...lift on one of your flying steeds; the dunes would really take some time to traverse, given this cliff and all."

Alessa noted the obvious figures in red in the distance.

     "Of course there are only three of them. If you want to negotiate a truce or an information deal, we can back you up. The problem is getting there. I bet an hour or so on foot."

Alessa smiled at the comment. She liked dry wit.

     "Come to think of it, where is your employer? This is 'relatively safe' by my standards and...I don't see him around. Is it a spell usually learned to just...vanish like that? I would love to know how that works."

However, it did not occur to her that her comment may also be referring to preventing a good death...to the employer, either.

Zane saw Alessa following along side him, struggling with the sand. He kept forgetting other people had trouble with it.
"If they're willing to actually listen, then yeah, we'll see if we can strike a deal. Maybe the archers will, but I have my doubts on Rajik. This isn't the first time he's tried to kill me."
He then looked around upon hearing the conversation between her and the eye patched girl.
"Where did Nico go?"
