Q: Magma Sea/Adamantine on Surface?
« on: October 03, 2014, 02:12:26 pm »

I know that in the old 2011 version, there was the occasional glitch that created an Adamantine Space Elevator.  I was wondering if that was still possible or if Toady fixed it, so I glanced at the Wiki and it said this:

"Adamantine veins can appear on the surface, but will be bordered by a great magma sea.(Confirmed in adventure mode)"

I searched the forum for a thread talking about this, but couldn't find it (though I'm probably just overlooking it.)  I was wondering if anybody had screenshots/a save file of that happening on the surface, or if anyone had ever had a fort started on a place like that.

That bug was the result of feature-*.dat files leaking between different worlds, and it was fixed a very long time ago.

If you somehow encounter such a thing in version 0.40, you should immediately report it on the bug tracker.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

OK. So is the Wiki wrong (the 'raw adamantine' article) when it says that adamantine can appear on the surface along with a magma sea?  It says this on both the new version, the 34.11, and 31.25 articles.

TY <3
also, this is why we shouldn't copy-paste EVERYTHING from the older parts of the wiki; the dorf humor sections are probably fine, but verify before you cp the older useful stuff >.>

40.x is pretty new, if they hadn't done a bulk copy/paste from 34.x to the 40.x namespace in the wiki - most of the DF2014 namespace would still be barren and you'd have tons of dead links in 40.x articles.

Hence the warning at the top of most of the DF2014 pages about them possibly not being 100% accurate.
