"So you wanna' be a gangster...all that shit/
Smoke any motherfucker, don't even trip."
- Too Short

Signing up for a spot in the Syndicate? 'Course you want to. You could push your 9-to-5 job for the rest of your life surviving on the hope that you'll be one of the lucky few, or you could be a gangster and get paid to live grand and beat up people you don't like. Then there's always the bonus of money, material goods, respect, influence, and of course the sea of luscious women, (or men, the Syndicate takes pride in being an equal-opportunity employer.) So, what's to lose?

Well, a lot. Especially if you want to get to the top if you think you're better than a common footsoldier. Then you have to prove yourself to a be a top player, and one of the best ways to do that is to take part of the Syndicate Taskforce. While the Syndicate is based mainly in the UK, and now in Albuquerque, New Mexico, there's still things to handle all over the globe: weapon and drug smuggling, diplomacy, escorts, robberies, assassinations, and so on. Stuff that the Syndicate knows is beyond the capabilities of the common thug, and too risky to hire outside help on. That's where you come in. If you've got the skills and the willpower to take on the challenge, you should sign-up. The Taskforce is the fastest way to rise through the ranks and prove yourself to the top dogs in the Syndicate. After all, when the Syndicate started out as an English street gang, the original leaders had to fight their way tooth and nail through some perilous shit.

So, if you think you got what it takes, sign-up. Taskforce out.

Gameplay:

This game is directly linked to my ongoing <Syndicate II> RTD, and the events of each game will effect the other. While the Syndicate RTD will focus on open-world gang management, Taskforce will be much more objective and mission-based, taking some inspiration from Piecewise's Einsteinian Roulette.

The Taskforce:

This game will have aspiring Syndicate members traveling across the globe to fulfill a certain objective. In each of these missions, the players will be debriefed, including what the objective is, where it will be, relevant notes in regards to the law and culture of the mission setting, important groups and people relevant to the mission, and any other important information. The Taskforce will be given supplies and equipment accordingly, to be distributed how the team sees fit. Some missions will have specific roles to be filled, (Diplomat, Sniper, Driver, etc.). Completing missions will usually come with recognition by the higher powers in the Syndicate and increase the chances of promotion; additionally, great accomplishments during missions can net special rewards and bonuses, while blunders can come with post-mission penalties.

Now, some things to think about when you sign up for the Taskforce as opposed to the official Syndicate RTD:

*Special priority is given to people who have been on the Syndicate's Waitlist. If you're waiting around for something to do, you can play here first while waiting to join the official game. You don't have to if you'd rather stick around and wait for an opening in the main game, but it is an option.

*Note that if you do join this game, either as a totally new player or someone on the Syndicate's wait-list, you must take part in at least one successful mission before you can enter the main game.

*Another option is just playing the Taskforce forever. If you want to do missions instead of gang management, that would be a good decision.

*Anything that happens to your character goes across both games. For example, if you are arrested in this game, you can not join the main game thread until you manage to get out of prison. Likewise, if you die, your character is gone for good.

*This game is overall much riskier than the main Syndicate RTD. The reason is simply that in the Syndicate, the Bosses often hang back and play the role of commander and administrator, (though a few do like to get involved in the direct action) while this game you always play in the frontlines of battle. So what's the in-game advantages to playing this game before the main one? Well...

*Spoils: While you have to return the funds, equipment, and everything else loaned to you at the beginning of the mission, the Syndicate will allow you to keep anything you acquire during the mission itself. This means guns, money, or any other cool things you can get your hands on. You can then take these items with you to the main Syndicate thread, provided it's feasible (they can probably smuggle in a few guns during your trip, but you'll have to leave your rocket launchers behind). The Syndicate does ask that you take spoils as part of the Mission, and if it comes to your attention that you spent the Escort mission robbing fruit stands, you will face penalties.

*The same is true for Skills, whatever you develop out in the field will stay with you across both games.

*At the current time, all members of the Taskforce must participate in every mission. This will probably change in the future. A few turns will occur between missions to allow downtime and reorganization.

*No one in the main Syndicate RTD can join the Taskforce. This will likely change in the future.

Quick Note: To anyone who has already made a character in the Syndicate's waitlist and wants to play this, it would be really helpful if you posted your sheet to this thread, along with any last minute adjustments to skills or equipment you wish to make.

Whoops. My bad. Well, have fun you guys!

The reason for that is that right now, it would seem weird if Aaron, in the middle of setting up a new base in Albuquerque, just dropped everything and flew away.
Also, everyone's character exists in both threads, so if Aaron were to say, get shot in the head in this thread, the Syndicate would be down 1 King.

Duly noted. I guess we'll wait until "Syndicate III: Gangstas' Got Talent" for the Sing-Ups.

Can I use my waitlist character?

Yeah.
