After backreading I noticed you said you died a lot on the battle with the guards after the DARPA Chief dies. You know how to quick (un)equip items using L1/R1 right? A good battle tactic is to un-equip and re-equip your gun when its about to run dry, it skips your reload animation. It's one of the basic techniques to know in MGS, you'd have a hard time winning the game on harder difficulties without it. Your support will tell you about these sorts of things over the codec. If you're dying repeatedly or you're stuck, call the Colonel and see what he has to say.

She's FOXHOUND just like Snake, very new as noted by him and she's never killed anybody before, but this does mean she was briefed, perhaps on different information than was deemed important to Snake's mission. If you don't buy that, she has been working with the N-GSF since she had been assigned to Shadow Moses Island, which means during that indeterminate amount of time she was with them before the rebellion she may have heard a thing or two about who they are and what they do. And we know how terribly talkative these guards are.
