You slide the key into the lock. As you turn it, there is a loud click and the lid pops open. Inside are a few items one would expect. There are some porcelain figurines, a couple pieces of tarnished jewelry, some bird feathers, and a small book.

Thorvi eyes the furniture nervously.

"Any ideas as to what that did be?"

From the first page, it's quite clear this is the princess's journal. You skim through the pages, finding nothing too terribly interesting. It's just a teenage girl's musings on the struggles of being young and pretty dresses. As you near the end, you see that the last dozen or so pages have been torn out and are nowhere to be found, aside from one entry, which is only partially torn out. Whoever ripped the pages must have been in a hurry.

...don't know what to do. No matter what path I take, it's sure to lead to ruin. If I leave, he'll stop at nothing to find me. If I stay here, I'm always under his scrutiny. He'll read me like a book. He's already threatened to take the things I hold most dear... My dear Rena, he won't hurt you. If I have to release you, I'd rather know you're alive. And Alexander... he can have you executed with a snap of his fingers... I must find a safe place for you until this is finished. I know the danger I'm putting you in, but I hope at the end of this, people will finally see.

The Princess most likely elaborated on her plans in the later entries, but they are gone.

Tailu stayed perfectly still in the rafters.

In her place above the group of people that had entered, no one had thought to glance upward-they would have surely seen the six foot darfellan woman who had been snooping around before they entered. She had waited till they spoke to one another to mutter a quiet incantation to her goddess Maisha, casting detect evil on them from above-and was pleasantly relieved to find none of them were. Of course, most of them were not good either...

In any case, she really doubted she could stay up here much longer.

"...You should all really...pay more attention...to your surroundings." Came her voice from above them, a tone slow and measured, in an obviously feminine voice. She sounds young.

"Can I come down...? My arms are...getting tired."
