I don't think you're punishing a baby for something it didn't do if the baby doesn't have a soul; there is no baby then.
And yeah, the potential argument doesn't quite work out: working from the point of view that a baby isn't a baby until it hits the second trimester, such an early abortion isn't any more closing off "potential" than using birth control, or abstaining from sex. You're not canceling a soul the way I see it, you're just not ending up with a soul being created. I don't think the soul exists until it happens.

Yes they do and the general purpose for them is to be used for reproduction

Ok

I'm just saying my argument from my point of view is that the moment the egg is fertilized there is a soul

That's about as clear-cut and immutable a distinction as it gets, isn't it?

Does put you in the odd position of affirming that YWHW is very much in the business of abortions, though, even if it doesn't want mankind to do so. Quite a few fertilized eggs abort naturally, to say nothing of stillborns and miscarriages and whatnot. That's... a lot of souls that never make it very far. Was considerably worse until relatively recently, too...

YWHW is attributed as having something of a thing for killing babies, so I guess it's in line with the rest of it. Not... not sure if it's a position I would want to internalize, but eh.

Do what it says, not what it does, I guess. Or rather, do what other, mostly unconnected, people say, not what it does or says to do.

Seek to be christ-like (through the lens of denominational interpretation, anyway), not godly?

If you kill a baby, why wouldn't that be part of gods plan after all? Since apparently he sometimes doesn't have a job for souls on earth and just takes them right away, why can't a persons actions causing it (more directly then normal at least) be how he does it? Even saying that it's clear that he wants people on earth for SOME reason, and thus you can't abort all babies, the ones that do get aborted seem like they were not needed.

Sometimes the death of the child can bring someone to Christ
Maybe the mother was atheist and her child dieing beau by her to Christ by being something that comforted her

I know though, that's what I meant. If god will murder a baby for some reasons via some methods, why can't abortion be one of those methods that god uses?

... though, please try for a different example, there, Cryx. "If you're atheist, it's okay if your baby is killed" -- regardless of the reason -- is one of the most frankly fucking horrific things I've heard in a long time.

E: Though, I'm once again terribly reminded that murdering children to bring others to worship it is exactly the sort of thing YWHW has been attributed as doing. Bloody hell :-\

Anything can be eventually justified in the name of the supernatural and indemonstrable.

Why punish them for what they didn't do?

You mean...send them to eternal bliss?

I didn't mean that at all
No

Heck it could have been a Christian mother and it brought the aethiast husband to god
Or one of their other kids
Or family members or possibly extremely close friends

And abortion is human choice
God can have people die of natural disaster for the same reasons but he can't really control if someone walks up and shoots the guy

Why punish them for what they didn't do?

You mean...send them to eternal bliss?

I mean not give them their life
Life is a gift by the way guys
Also you're (again) punishing the people that that person was sent to save
