*Kicks the derail in the face*

SO.

If god feared man when we were building the tower of babble, why?
If it was an actual tower, the highest we could reach is space, and then we'd run out of atmosphere and die.
If it was secretly a spaceship (and only called a tower because they wouldn't know what else to call it) then that means god is a physical being somewhere in space.

So, is god/heaven pysically reachable? If not, was it in the past, and god relocated? If it was never reachable, why did he act?

Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

I'm getting a mental image of God looking down from his cloud or whatever, seeing the tower, and saying "*sigh* There goes the neighborhood."
Also, it's 'Babel', not 'babble'.

I'm debating the Bible, not reading it!

It's appropriate though, considering God's response to its construction.

In Genesis 9, God commands Noah and his sons to spread across the whole earth.

In Genesis 11, everyone decides to go to Shinar to build a tower instead.  So God creates a bunch of languages to confuse people so they spread out over the earth.

The fact that they were building a tower wasn't the issue.

I'm also curious about this:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Should anyone who sees his naked father be made a servant/slave?

Yup. This is exactly the kind of thing that makes me absolutely disregard anyone who quotes rules or laws from the Old Testament as being in anyway applicable to modern life. But lets not forget the when Jesus curses a tree.

The thing about him seeing his father naked wasn't so much that as he ran off and told his siblings, "Hey, guess what? Dad's passed out in his tent? Ya know what else? He's totally nude!"

Also, Jesus killing the fig tree was more him showing off a little bit.

It's still kinda not a sound basis for condemning the guilty party's child to slavery.

What kind of God shows off by killing a fig tree?

I mean, it's rather obnoxious and....silly.

So if I run around naked, I can make people my slaves?

...Why does this not get mentioned more often?

Maybe it was a really kickass fig tree? Like, that tree was what actually happened to Chronos and Zeus was just lying so everyone wouldn't fear the nigh infinitely mighty figging that awaited them in the middle east.

What, did he call down lightning on the tree or something?
