STAR BRICK
Someone pays the kitten no mind, as she always does. Instead, she returns to the keys.
Tap out the appropriate keystrokes for guiding crew members to problematic areas. Occasionally check console vibrations with diagnostic routine (press keys and press head to console to check for nature of vibrations).
[5]
Captain Someone continues running diagnostics; it seems to her that the first problem facing the ship is the general lack of power, since for some reason many of the backup generators are exhibiting unusual errors, and in some cases are completely shut down. Whatever damage has been inflicted on the various shipboard subsystems will be difficult (if not impossible) to fix before the restoration of power is complete, and that means reigniting the DSJ reactor.
Fortunately, the DSJ Reactor Room seems to be in perfect condition, readily responding to commands from the bridge. Though unable to complete the ignition procedures remotely, Someone can make the process fairly idiot-proof. One toggle to kill the lights, another to highlight the main control lever, a little bit of fiddling to make them flash in an enticing pattern... it should be pretty obvious to anyone entering the room what needs to be done.
Captain Someone rather hopes that somebody is making their way down there, since hurtling blind and powerless through the abyss of space is a bit nerve-wracking. There shouldn't be any obstacles around for parsecs, but the
Star Brick also shouldn't drop from DSJ the way a sloth drops from a tree. The sooner ship systems are back online, the better.
Conan looks down at the cat who just walked up to him, peering at the collar.
"The cat...talk? I should probably pick more books up on cat, I not remember this."
Head over to the DSJreactor by way of transporter pad, as instructed by the cat. Look around there and try to fix what is wrong, eg. flip the big switch as it's apparently fairly obvious.
[2]
Conan begins flashing his light around, looking for something to fix the Sensor Control Room power outage with. He doesn't see much useful; tangled coils of bare wire, some mysterious bits that rather look like vacuum cleaner components, a pair of hellish eyes above a gaping green maw-
Conan drops his light in startlement, which conveniently puts the eyes in perspective; it's just a small kitten, and the "gaping green maw" is just a simple green backlit display. Conan scoops up his light, at which point he notices some text flashing on the screen.
Go DSJreactor
All things considered, Conan would rather follow the instructions of a small cat than try to figure out the mess here in Sensor Control, so he takes a step back into the teleporter and emerges in the DSJ Reactor Room. It is eerily dark in here; the walls and panels are dark and unlit, but humming ominously. A large column in the center of the room is lit by flashing lights on the edges, which seem to be flowing down toward a central console. The console is unlit, except for one big handle which is not only glowing and ready for action, but is also directly illuminated by several cleverly arrayed ceiling lights.
Conan glances around, looking for further instruction. Since none is forthcoming, he decides to take the hint. He steps forward to throw the switch...
Skirri tilted the cat around, managing to flip it upside down before figuring out what it was saying.
"Ooh! Engine Room No Power!
...that means no teleporters, doesn't it? Hmmmm. THIS sounds like a job for...!
...or we could just go to the DSJ room!" she finished, putting down 'energized force-transfer to an otherwise dead pad' as Plan B.
Haul kitten to DSJ room!
...and is barreled over from behind as Skirri bursts out of the teleporter. A new, different kitten leaps from Skirri's arms and lands on Conan's back in a rumpled heap, mewling a loud complaint.
Skirri doesn't pay much attention to the new guy or the cat- she has a job to do!
[6]
Reaching up, she hauls on the DSJ startup switch. Immediately, the DSJ reactor begins to grind loudly, vibrating the deckplates and several of the looser lighting fixtures in the room. Several other switches, valves, and buttons come to life in sequence, responding to remote guidance from Captain Someone, but Skirri hardly needs the help; she's messed with the DSJ reactor so many times she knows the cold startup sequence by heart.
The grind fades away into a persistent hum, and the vibrations cease. In their place, regular illumination is restored to the DSJ reactor room, and panels and monitors blink back into life.
Bridge:
I wait
Engine room:
I attempt to find a tunnel large and clear enough for Skirri to fit through it to access the engine room... though she'll probably have to crawl.
Sensor room:
keep an eye on it in case the power comes on
2nd kitten on way to sensor room:
go to life support and make sure nothing stupid is happening there.
DSJ reactor:
first kitten:
stay and wait for assistance.
second kitten:
go to the medbay and make sure it is available in case someone hurts themselves.
The scene of revivification is repeated across the ship. Kit can see normalcy being returned to the various hallways throughout the ship, as well as the Bridge, the Medbay, and Life Support.
The kitten in the Engine Room is spared having to find a crawlhole for Skirri as power floods back into the room, thankfully bringing the teleporter pad online along with it.
The only place not affected by the restoration of power is Sensor Control; whatever outage kept it from being supplied with backup power has not been helped by the restoration of main power.
