The Order
« on: August 29, 2014, 05:00:47 pm »

The Times have changed so much since the 100 year unification. People no longer have to worry about soldiers trampling over farm fields to get to the critical battle, now they have to worry about the tax man looking for extra coin. All over the Empire of Gulcassa people wake up at crack of dawn to hear the national anthem be played by Emperors Honor guards. All over the Empire the Auxiliary make arrests and wage a bloody war against subversives and "suspicious persons". The rest of the world watches so under it's flimsy blanket of protection. They appease the Emperors diplomats with gifts and tributes for his protection.

Two months ago i was arrested for housing a lady that is apparently under suspicion to have killed a Auxiliary police man. I never knew who she was past the name Delilah, she just seemed like someone unlucky to be caught in the rain. I told them again and again how i knew nothing of her past her face, her hood, and her name but they were so thirsty for more that they tortured thin air out of me. I've been informed that i am being refused trial and i'm going to be executed for helping a murderer. A Prison guard come and slides in a peice of bread under the cell door. He says "You should eat, this meal comes from a friend. I hope it won't be your last."
.

"Weren't you the one who told me i would die today?"

He says nothing and leaves without saying a world not even looking at me as he does.

Winner!

Shit...thank god  armok i prepared for this.

--------------------------

You stand up and move towards the door grabbing the bread off the tray. The bread is no better than what they give anyone else here. It's not moldy but it is pretty stale and it's probally been in a barrels for a week.

As you munch on the bread you see a small letter on the tray, you pick it up and read it.

"
 Wilbert Wonzin,

Are you Just? Do you like order? Did you ever feel like the people you interogated, were choatic?

No need to answer for soon everything you have done will be repaid without your consent needed.

Yours trully,

Your future Master Death.

P.S I hope the bread taste nice."

You can't help but yell out your frustration and start crying. "SOMEONE HELP ME DAMMIT! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!". Prisoners and Guards mock you calling you weak. How could you have fallen so low? It use to be so easy, follow orders, execute orders, and then go home with gold in your pockets.

-------

Time Passes by and a priest escorted with two guards none the ones you've seen before tell you to get up. The priest gives you last rites and says "May death find you a good place to lie in for eternity child. May you love eternal change."

He leaves and the Guards take you through some hallways and metal doors outside. Another Guard with a black executioners mask awaits, his or her hands ready on the lever. Next to him rope in the form of a noose. You can hear one guard calling it good noose...thoughts rush in to you but you have no emotions that you can give out.

Your hands are tied and the noose around your neck fits you like your old uniformed shirts back in your Auxiliary days. An Army officer approaches "Any final words Wilbert? I'd like to get on with the other prisoners.".

Do you have anything to say?

"The executioner becomes the executed. Every man carries a thousand ghosts. Who they could've been, who they should've been, who they killed, who they destroyed. May I join your contingent, sir?"

Smile sinisterly.

((ooc edit: if we somehow survive this and start a resistance group, we are calling it the thousand ghosts.))

"Quite! I am slightly regretful of not having enough presence of mind to turn away greatly handsome travelers in the dead of night. If there is any lesson to be taken from my life, it is to never allow strangers into one's home. Rather silly of me to forget that lesson, really."

The Army officer snaps "No." before gesturing to the Executioner to earn his living. You can't help but feel so very weak, like a puppy begging for another dogs scrap.

The lever goes off and your left dangeling your neck unbroken choking. Everything goes dark and blurry, going into the darkness you try to linger on to life. A mere 5 seconds just as you are to pass out you see her. The lady you gave shelter too those months ago and with other behind her in masks. The Army officer looks suprised and yells but then you black out. The last thing you can remember is falling.

----

You awaken inside a white room in a very comfy bed. You see the back of a womans head brushing her hair in the mirror, she hasn't noticed you and you can see a door to your right and a glass balcony door leading outside. It looks like a short fall but it's closer to the woman.

How do you react?

"I am deeply saddened I cannot remember the chain of events leading to this situation. Deeply. Saddened."

Stretch and yawn. Are there any different feelings? Contentment? Satisfaction? General well-being? Anything else unusual?

"I happen to know that a broken neck is usually fatal, so why am I still alive? Yet another mystery for the executioners box, although this one may some day be solved."

Stretch, try to avoid yawning. Do we recognize the woman? Are there any clues in the room as to who she might be?
