Ways to trigger invasions
« on: August 09, 2014, 10:48:02 am »

Hi guys, I know we are waiting for the next release to fix invasions, but in the mean time is there any way to mod or force the game to send invaders against my fort? The game seems fairly boring without attacks and I really want to play DF today! Thanks!

Necromancer towers are currently the best way to get invaders and if you do some adventuring and discover the locations of bandit camps and you place a fort near them, you should get some invasions by the bandit group. Or you go and mess with the HFS deep below.

Mine out, smooth, engrave and decorate everything. Make your legendary dwarves churn out masterworks. Create and export as much wealth as you can.

This won't help, because there are bugs that prevent invasions.
They will be fixed in the next version:

   - Removed some stale invasion data preventing further invasions
   - Fixed some path buffering problems that could screw up neighbor list etc.

Unless someone has a way around those bugs, we just have to wait for the next version

Don't Titans still show up when the requirements are met though?

Yes, i didn't have any problems for Titans (if there are still alive at the year you're playing) to show up when wealth/pop (100000 wealth + min 80 pop )requirement is met in 40.06 :

A couple of artifact created by moody dwarves may be enough to reach the 100000 wealth if you're lucky.

It's only the armies invading that do not show up (can't wait for the incoming 40.07 to see the problem fixed).

8 to 12 of them?  In the first year?  Bandits.

I think the problem begins when you leave df. It's either the saving or loading that does it. At least that's the impression I got from the bug reports

Yes, we all get *a* siege. But then no more. Or maybe a siege from the local goblins and one from the local necromancer but only one from each source.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

The third "attack" may be from kobolds. But neither kobolds nor goblins show in civ list.

Yes I've seen a pair of kobold thieves that clearly entered the map together, but just the one pair and no civ screen entry.  Go fight the caverns?  Living in the third level can be pretty fun if you dont just deck it with traps.
