What, you want Sunni terrorists instead of Shiite terrorists in charge? It's not like there's going to be some glorious revolt in favor of liberal democracy.

I'd like to see folks in charge who won't start a war with Israel every couple years, and won't undermine the state by building a state-within-a-state complete with its own army.

Oh, and also I'd be glad to see the butcher of Damascus lose an ally. So yeah, fuck Hezbollah.

"butcher of Damascus"?

I guess he's no longer just an "ophthalmologist" in your eyes, now that it has become almost certain that he won't be losing any time soon, hehehe.

EDIT: In more relevant news:

Mosul's dam is going to fall if nothing is going to be done soon, Iraqi government sticks its fingers into its ears and shouts "lalalala we ain't doing anything", expected kill count is literally in the millions. Top kek.

Butcher of Damascus? President Opthamologist's security forces were the only things keeping Christian Iraqis alive in Damascus when Wahhabi rebels - who the West armed, were busy cleansing them and launching suicide bomb attacks from within Damascus. Our "moderates" were committing war crimes before ISIS was born and we still armed them afterwards :/. Christians are going extinct in their birthplace they have resided in since the religion's founding and it's not because of Assad's forces or the Peshmerga, but because of the jihadists we have for some reason been so vehemently opposed to neutralizing (until they struck our homes too). The only two places Druze and Christians remain in Syria are Damascus and Aleppo - the two main cities garrisoned by Assad. Why are we trying to destroy this nob for oil, cheaper oil prices are not worth this at all

Also top kek, Gaddafi was stopping illegal African migration to Europe and Assad wanted refugees in Turkey to come home, really running out of barriers to kill for German enrichment

Though I think the area of SAA control should reach further North and well into and NE of Aleppo.

I'll applaud Hezbollah being whipped any day of the week.

Hehe, and in the process destroying the lives of few more million people, destabilizing the region even more with more influx of refugees, and also not fix the problem. Great way of thinking.

Do note that this thing is technically not even called "ceasefire". It's a "cessation of hostilities", and what it actually does is prohibit major offensives. Small-level fighting is not prohibited. That as far as I know have been the terms of the deal negotiated.

The Iranian multi-billionaire Babak Zanjani has been sentenced to death by the Iranian court, for 'spreading corruption over the planet earth'.

Zanjani, whose fortune is estimated around 10 billion dollars, was a key figure for Iran's previous president, for circumventing the international boycots with regard to oil trade. He thought up a way to keep the origin of Iran's oil secret, by transferring it tanker to tanker in shady ports in Malaysia. He says himself he has sold 24 million barrels of oil that way, to Malaysia, India and Singapore. He then laundried the money via the First Islamic Bank of Malaysia (which is now on global blacklists).

The Iranian government (which regards the previous president's entourage as a corrupt bunch) has accused him of embezzling 1.4 billion dollars from those deals, for his own profit, and the judge has now sentenced him to death for it. First, he will have to pay back 1.4 billion though.

The businessman can still appeal the verdict. What will happen to his companies, amongst which a Turkish airline, mulitple financial institutes, and a large fleet of oil tankers (which were used to bypass the sanctions), is unclear.

Nice try, but there's a difference in English, as well:

Quote
Under the terms of the cessation of hostilities, the warring parties agree to use proportionate response in self-defense if and when attacked.

In other words, if one of the sides is attacked, its response should be no greater than what is required to stop the immediate threat.

In simple English, its still a war and nobody is in reality any more limited in what they do and where than before. Especially because the majority of one side wasn't even negotiated with. Talks are again disconnected from actions.

Its just another attempt of handwaving to make things to look different to what they are. The fighting hasnt stopped and SAA is turning East, and the areas in Syria where Russia/SAA claim they don't bomb or attack any more cover a couple of % of the nation.

You say that "it's still a war", but apparently, Syrians themselves think it's an actual truce. As in, they act as if it was. So talk are not disconnected from the actions here, as you can see. Also, ISIS is obviously excluded from the "cessation of hostilities" agreement, and so is Al-Nusra, for being Al-Qaeda, so SAA turning East makes perfect sense - they're re-aligning their forces towards destruction of ISIS.

Yes, terrorists are not included. Which is about 90% of the rebel factions.

Very truce, much peace.

He means according to the Syrian government.

And possibly according to the US government because theres apparently no moderates left, or at least no moderates that haven't sided with one of the non-moderates. Basically theres groups that one side or another (whether the US, Turkey, NATO, Russia, Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and so on) call terrorists.

Still, going to call source on that one because that's how it works around here.
