I just started noticing this in the recent versions but when I'm trying to designate something to be planted in a certain season the text will sometimes be red highlighting certain crops. I know I have enough seeds but it won't let me plant that specific crop. Why does this happen and is this new to the 40.~ releases?

It's new. I thought it might be because it's too late in the season to plant that crop and the harvest wouldn't be on time but I'd need to test further

Actually, it's a very old feature that got broken in version 0.31.01 and just recently got fixed.

Well, there are actually two different issues here: whether you can mark a plot for planting, and whether a seed actually gets planted.

In 0.40.05 and .06, seeds don't get planted too late in the season (which is good!), but you also can't mark plots for planting next year, during the last couple weeks of a season (which is bad).  In versions from 0.31.01 to 0.40.04, it was the reverse.

If we must have exactly one of these bugs at all times, the one we have now is better than the one we had before....
