Town of Salem - a game of murder, deception, lying and mob hysteria

Town of Salem is a browser-based game that challenges players on their ability to convincingly lie as well as detect when other players are lying. The game ranges from 7 to 15 players. These players are randomly divided into alignments - Town, Mafia, Serial Killers, Arsonists and Neutrals. If you are a Town member (the good guys) you must track down the Mafia and other villains before they kill you. The catch? You don't know who is a Town member and who is a villain. If you are an evil role, such as a Serial Killer, you secretly murder town members in the veil of night and try to avoid getting caught.

Town of Salem has 29 unique roles ensuring a different experience each time you play. Before a game starts players are put into a lobby where the host can select what roles will be in the game. Players are then assigned roles at random from the list of chosen roles. Players have an in-game role card that explains their roles abilities and alignments.

Game Phases

Night

The night phase is when most roles use their abilities. Serial Killers stealthily murder people, Doctors heal people who are attacked, Sheriffs interrogate people for suspicious activity and many more unique role abilities.

Day

The day phase allows the Town members to discuss who they suspect of being an evil role. Once the voting phase starts a majority vote from the town will put someone on trial.

The defense phase is when you plead your innocence to the town. Have a convincing story or find yourself facing the gallows!

Judgement

During this phase the town will vote on the fate of the defendant. Players can vote guilty, innocent or abstain. If there are more guilty votes than innocent votes the defendant is sentenced to death by hanging!

There are currently over 300 unique achievements in the game.

Thought you guys would be interested in this. Its basically online speed mafia. The discussion and voting phase during the day last about 2 minuets, and the night phase is 45 seconds. Everyone has their own role, so everyone has some kind of ability. This may seem kind of dumb, but with so little time you need something to work off to supplement the discussions you have. Everyone gets a last will that they can write which is revealed when they die, useful for dropping a bombshell of info if you are say, the sheriff. Kill notes are a thing, for leaving funny messages. It's pretty fun, pretty silly. Also free, you can get coins by playing to buy cosmetic stuff, nothing that actually changes the gameplay.

I lost my first game due to a townie quitting at lylo.

My first game I was a veteran. My cognomen was notthesk. I proceeded to kill half the town the first night.

I've been playing Town of Salem for two weeks, and it is pretty fun. My favorite roles are Jester (it's extremely easy to get yourself lynched with the right actions and a helpful Framer), Spy (especially on dumb Mafia), Jailor (Overpowered town role as it's a Doc, Escort, and Vig without the downfalls), and Witch.

My username is Perses on Town of Salem, although in-game I'm usually Tommy Wiseau or Norman Bates.

That's why I generally play custom games, because there is more variety in roles. Although most of the time Disguiser gets nerfed by wills, so a Disguiser/Janitor combo is extremely powerful.
