Is there any way to harvest fruit in fortress mode? I have quite a few fruit-bearing trees and I want my dwarves to have a balanced diet.

Fruit-bearing trees aren't finished yet, and that is part of the plan, to make them usable in a future version of .40.

You can get a herbalist to do it with d-p, "gather plants". They need farming / plant-gathering turned on.

That doesn't work for apples/pears/plums, only for non-tree plants.
