Aw yeah, we bringin' out the big guns now. Maybe I should throw a more completed package out and see what happens.

Alternatively, purist bottle gnome planeswalker in a world of giants. It'd be like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann the mage duel!

What's your name?
....Ko! Ko the... I don't know. Just Ko I guess.
Are you a boy or a girl?
What do you mean am I a boy or a girl? Can't you tell just by looking at me? WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'NO?!'
What race are you?
Humanoid bottle gnome.
What color(s) of magic do you wield?
Blue and White. There is no need to defeat enemies when they are physically incapable of harming you!
Where are you from?
An island volcano tourist town.
What's your story? Give us a bit of background.
The might of the bottle gnomes will not be denied. Well, alright it's less 'might' and more 'adorable tourist industry,' but still! Adapting to larger races and cultures prompted them to develop larger and humanoidier forms, and cuter and more merchandizable culture. We're your average Tourist Servicing Unit, which is less an actual thing and more code for 'unemployed but there's tourists everywhere and sometimes they'll pay you for things so we scrape by.' It's a living, and at least the climate's nice!

Dwarf fortress in 50 words: You start with seven alcoholic, manic-depressive dwarves. You build a fortress in the wilderness where EVERYTHING tries to kill you, including your own dwarves. Usually, your chief imports are immigrants, beer, and optimism. Your chief exports are misery, limestone violins, forest fires, elf tallow soap, and carved kitten bone.

I'm vetoing the bottle gnomes on the grounds that it veers a little too far from sane. Sane by Bay12 standards, yes, but still.

How about storm crows? They are highly sentient, probably more so than humans.

...Although they do lack all empathy and other emotional human weakness. So they might not form relationships unless said relationships have Machiavellian value to them in taking over the universe.
(Basically, daleks actually have storm crows inside of them. The octopus things you see on screen are exceptions - that's why those versions are always dying and getting outwitted)

Birds, intelligent though they may be, probably wouldn't make good Planeswalkers, from a forum game standpoint at least.

EDIT: I get the distinct impression I have shot myself in the foot in saying any race goes, stabbed myself in the bullet wound from switching to just humans, and then chainsawed my foot off from saying 'choose what race you want within reason'.

Clearly, there's nowhere to go from here but up. That's what I'm gonna keep telling myself.

Okay, here's how this is going to go: suggest characters that would actually fit into the lineup of Planeswalkers that are actually in M:TG. Please... I just want to actually be able to start the game before it crumbles.

I'm just yanking your chain. Storm crow is a community joke card -- players like to act like it's a super powerful, almighty card ironically (as it's actually incredibly shitty). So it seems appropriate to jokingly pretend it would be a king amongst planeswalkers or whatever.

Okay, that actually makes way more sense than I expected. My bad!

...I'm still not letting bottle gnomes happen.

Fine. Fine! Be that way.

What's your name?
Kharak the Thirsty
Are you a boy or a girl?
Girl. You might not expect this from the massive torso and mane.
What race are you?
Leonin.
What color(s) of magic do you wield?
White and Green. We believe in strength and control.
Where are you from?
A smoldering volcanic slave citadel where leonin taskmasters oversee the mining of precious materials by their bottle gnome slaves.
What's your story? Give us a bit of background.
We're a taskmaster, which means we carry a whip and instill productivity and fear in the wretched gnomes that toil for our benefit. We're a particularly unpleasant piece of work if you ask the gnomes, and a rather likeable girl if you ask somebody who counts as a person. We're especially well-liked for our habit of making examples of nearby gnomes, meaning we're good for trouble spots where it seems like the filthy wretches might be making the wrong sorts of plans.

Also I'm making a female cat someone stop me before I turn it into Katia Managan instead.

It's too late, she's already Katia in my mind. However, there's still the matter of other peoples' votes.

So far we have:
An unnamed Aven guy
A paranoid human (who might be named Norin, but GavJ didn't specify any other character stuff)
And Katia Managan a Leonin chick (if the Aven was a girl I would have been so happy to make this pun, but alas, it did not work that way).

Although, volcanic slave citadel with White and Green?

+1 to Katia Managan.
