It's a self replicating substance. Early iterations of it appeared organic and mutated creatures and plants it came in contact with for ease of transmission. Later versions were crystalline. Very much like us. Just not sapient.

All about Tiberium.

Cycle 65

The Proxians take quite awhile to speak up after that meeting. This is helpful, considering you have more important issues to deal with. For one, energy. You have, somehow, too much dakka energy. The obvious answer to this is to expand your capacity for it. Conversion of all High-density to Energy Vault crystals takes slightly less than a million energy. Expansion of storage into larger-scale but still out of sight regions costs significantly less, and in the process brings total energy under threshold.

A sort of 'seed' idea is brought up from one of the Server crystals during experimentation. Still having energy to spare, some researchers are fabricated for the additional task; Not so many however, as the theoretical purpose would rely on a high-efficiency, low-power variant of command-type crystal to not entirely disable the host, with a comms system as well. At first glance (and consulting the arguably useless data from the dead proxian attempt), its unlikely a proper crystalline like yourself or the diplomat-form would be viable for the seed core, extra support via wireless energy would be required. You rearrange the structure of the research prioritization data to look better instead of simply listing all categories in an unorganized mess while you're at it.

Probing the surroundings of the reactor a bit more, you still would have rather insufficient storage to use it properly, but mainly due to leaving open space for the current teachers down there. With correct reinforcement of the link between it and storage sectors and your recently improved energy control from the forgite, its gone from 'impossible' to 'immense investment beforehand' on the scale of usability. You reforge 23 of the incompletely assimilated forgite while you're over there, draining about 1.38 million energy. With roughly half a million left quite safely under your storage capacity, you return to see what the arcanists are up to. They're mostly just sitting there, arguing over whether they should ask you or demand you let them acquire supplies first. You tell them it depends on if they try to trick you or not, and if they'll teach you the magic. They say they need time to debate if a living geological structure counts as an Outsider or not, and with your temporary weakening of the interference as a gesture of niceness, one of them warps water up from below. You add the fact that there are liquids (within a currently unknown radius in the downwards direction) to the super short list of things you know about the depths, and convert part of the farseer cluster into an Overseer-level Outpost, Outpost Below.

Outpost scale-2 cluster, probably a better name for the new one, and the exploration that was suggested will come later. The first two before the next update, the last one either before or part of the next update. Probably should've started this earlier if I was going to update at night :)

We should water them but not feed them. The can last quite long without food but very short without water. Hunger is also a better motivator then thirst.

Plus, it's just a matter of effort; we have to put in effort to get food to them. Therefore, we will only do so if they are useful to us.

Oh, and make some chairs and tables for them to work/sit at.

One of the arcanists untied a set of chairs from his bag along with the water they went to get once they had sat down to debate. Some large rocks are held together with rope after they realize he did not also conjure a table before he returned. (Conjure Chairs is hardly a spell powerful enough to be messed up by interference.)

Nah it's just criminal negligence.

And motivation.

I do want to get a look at those green rocks, and send the longest line of Feeler Crystals down.

On second thought, for now the cluster is just farseer with a overseer crystal attached to it. Most of the ideas I had for seperating it into a different thing just made things more complicated. Outpost Under however does have a better name. It is now the Underpost.

Cycle 66

The debating, it is taking forever to conclude. So you instead ignore them for a cycle and expand out further, but considering you just previously expanded your safe storage capacity, you ignore feeler crystal clusters and obtain more power instead. The watery bottom of this cavern has quite the distance to it, being about 48 crystal clusters down from the lowest palantir. There is little else of note off to the sides so far, and the new bits of the green crystals you find are even less stable than the large hunk the arcanists are debating atop.

The diplomatic crystalline continues its attempts to make the two aboveground plan-mates work together, with minimal success.

What about seppuku? If they can conjure chairs what's to stop them from killing themselves to keep their knowledge out of outsider hands? Can we just torture them now? Also, reroute all proxian, wireless, camouflage and 5 of the technology research to reading minds. If we can sift through minds diplomacy becomes unnecessary. Talk to The Chained. See how it's holding up.

We certainly can, we're just being nice for diplomacy's sake. (Also, we never said where we were from. We just said who we are. With some luck they might consider us just part of the world they hadn't discovered yet. The Proxians don't have anything fancy like a map of the entire planet the Alteri would have on arrival.)

I'm speaking purely hypothetically in case their choice is negative. My other question was simply asking the other posters for consent.

Time is one thing we have in abundance.

There is no need to hurry.

If they choose to commit suicide, torture is unlikely to help.

In reality, they've found promoting comraderie is actually more effective, typically, than torture, in getting information. Yes, this may seem strange, but Stockholm Syndrome. We may have difficulty doing so, but I'd rather us continue being at least moderately civil. If they conjure up a bunch of knives we'll notice. They could just start bashing their heads against the walls, after all, and kill themselves that way.

Okay, maybe I haven't been clear; I want us to try assimilating one of the chunks of green crystal. Not the one they're debating atop, but still. Seriously, I want us to figure out what it is.

Additionally, create more Research crystals, and an upgraded form of the Server Crystal, which can be called an actual Data Overseer. We should have as many of them as is deemed most efficient for enhancing research rates(1 per 25 research crystals?). Maybe we can even create a Laboratory Sector. Would a Research Crystal with Research Network or something be possible?
