Uses origin which is lame but if anyone is interested in getting the Sims 2 it is going until the 31st!

Also I am aware this is in like...one other thread...but it seems worthy enough to have a separate thread all its own so more people actually see it and it does not get sucked into oblivion.

Haven't checked on my PC yet, but I did this via phone and it seems to work. Also have a copy of dead space they gave away free before, and that works.

It's one of those things that's tempting but I know I'll only play it for about an afternoon before getting bored of it. Neat little thing though.

I searched Origin on the google play store on my phone and the first result is the Steam app. How did you get it on your phone?

I had wanted to play the Sims 2 a few months ago, but wasn't able to get it working on windows 7. Hopefully this version works.

Still won't make me want to forgive EA for how they've wronged me in the past.

In all fairness I am not a fan of Windows 8, I wouldn't want to work on your computer either

On a more serious note, I wonder if there are Windows 7 adaption for Windows 8.

Heard it doesn't like Intel graphics cards if that helps.

I think you're blaming Windows 8 and something else is the actual problem. It runs just fine for me.

I made some changes to one of the config files to up the resolution to 1920x1080, but it ran before I did that too. (I followed these instructions: http://simsvip.com/2014/07/20/the-sims-2-ultimate-collection-increase-resolution-guide/ )

The only technical problem I've run into so far is that characters seem to have a large square black box under them instead of a proper shadow, no matter what shadows are set to in graphics options.

I noticed the shadow problem too...might need to tweak some more config files or something to fix it...

I found a thread saying that setting shadows to medium fixes it. Although I tried that earlier and it did not appear to work, I'm going to try again since the first time I didn't try restarting the game after changing the setting.

Edit: Same result. Even if I change the shadows to off, they stay on, including the square block ones. Oh well!

I guess It's possible that it's my computer's fault rather than Windows 8, It's not exactly top of the line and the Intel Integrated graphics card that I'm stuck with has caused me problems with other stuff. The game does start but it crashes whenever I try to create a sim.

my shadow settings are greyed out and stuck on high...when I get home from work I will try and set them to medium in the config file
