I feel some people write in cursive because so few people actually write exclusively in cursive and so they feel its the most original and proper way to write.

Print is only faster if you're not used to cursive/care about legibility. Otherwise, as I've mentioned, you keep wasting time raising/lowering your pen between letters.

my letters are always so squashed together thats not really a concern also it means i can make minor adjustments to things well it does cause problems with me putting tiny spaces between words now

I can't write in print, it automatically becomes something like Vector's handwriting.
Except my letters do end up more... straight I guess.

Also, that's an interesting cursive p. I was taught to write the upper part as an inverted u n.

Huh. So, kind of like an 'o'?

My writing tends to be so quick that I kinda do my own version of cursive to save time. Often, I'll hardly take my pen or pencil off the paper to move to the next letter.

My writing is a mix of joins and spaces depending on the letters.

It looks awful.

I wouldn't have it any other way :P

I'm in a sharing mood:

First is my normal handwriting, next to my rushed scribble:

Spoiler: My two extremes (click to show/hide)

I can do tidier and printier than that, but not usually for long before I forget myself and slip into my normal handwriting.  And the rushed scribble isn't quite a 100% likeness as it wasn't under natural conditions, but close enough.

And this is just some random notes to myself - not rushed, but also not taking any sort of care for others reading it:

I also tried doing some actual proper cursive and it turns out I've forgotten how - I kept tripping over myself and screwing up words completely whenever I got to a letter I don't naturally 'join up'.

When I was in primary school in England, I was taught the both print and joined-up writing (what I called cursive, the english version is slightly different so I use different names), and I used joined up as my default method of writing.

I then moved country, which involved going to an american school, entering into grade 1. My teacher at the time saw that I was't writing in print, and after determining that cursive wasn't meant to be covered in the american curriculum until grade 3 insisted that I cease using joined-up writing and use print instead. It wasn't until third grade that I was allowed to write in anything other than print.

Nowadays, I write in low-quality print.
