Defending The Wall
« on: July 21, 2014, 02:57:43 pm »

This is a shitty Game Maker game I made in about 8 or so hours whilst sleep deprived.

You play as a dumpy dude with a mallet, and you defend a poorly drawn wall as it is assaulted by the forces of the undead and vermin.

Link to YoYogames download page

Controls:
WASD to move your ass around.
F to swing your hammer, for killing skeletons, killing spiders, repairing the wall, and killing more skeletons.
Hold and release H to throw a Portable Energetic Disassembler. You have 8 of them.

You get a point for each enemy to beat to a pulp. The game ends after the wall falls.

Just ignore the health bar above your guy, you have 100 health, and the only thing that hurts you right now are the arrows from the skeleton archers, and they only deal 1 damage per shot, so you really have to try to die to get killed.

I appreciate whatever criticism comments you have on it.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Yeah, it's alright. Maybe add more varieties of enemies?
Also, the skeletons don't seem to do anything upon reaching the wall.

They smack into it and deal paltry damage.
And yeah, the game could use more everything to it, I did make it in about 8 hours.

Needs more lens flares and sample text.

Needs to be named "Defend_Your_Wall.exe", not "Defend_Yor_Wal.exe".

Also, it triggered SmartScreen, so it's obviously a virus. You can't trick me, mastahcheese!

Okay, my actual comment: maybe make it launch to a menu, not the game itself?

Also, it should have more things that damage you, as well as a way to recover health. A bigger variety of enemies would be nice, too.

Maybe some sort of ranged weapon with unlimited charges, but a cooldown?

Yes.
^_^

Moar enemies
More thing to hurt you
Way to refill health
Way to refill bombs
Make main menu
More ranged attacks
I'm sure I'm forgetting something but I'm busy right now

11/10 pretty terrible

1. fuck spiders and whatever went through your mind when you made them

2. where is a pause button

3. fuck spiders

4. let me remap mallet to something else before i break my f key

5. fuck spiders

6. wall far too stronk

7. fuck spiders

8. produce a reason to ever leave the wall instead of just going up and down and slamming everything

i got a score of 622 before i had to take a shit and died

will deliver a high score screenie when i actually get >1k

wall busting animation is pretty cool

also consider clearing corpses after you have like 300 of them on the field

seeing skeleton on skeleton is tough since you can't tell undead from actually dead
