Giant sponges

So...seems they aren't so unstoppable now.

I'm going to assume this is a side effect of the new gibbing effects. owo

Were sponges ever a problem though? Ive heard some stories about them, but they always seem to just sit there occasionally scaring my fishermen, and nothing else.

The real problem was giant zombie sponges. They were nigh immortal and on top it they were aggressive and could function on land.

Still, they paled in comparison to a zombie giant sperm whale.

Zombie sponges collapse after a few hits, though.

Now a thrall giant sponge, that is another story.

Ah yes, you're right. It was the thralled version that was super lethal and invulnerable. The regular zombies died due to the hp system they used to have. My mistake.

The problem with sponges before was how they had no organs, blood, nor a nerve system. So you may as well be trying to kill something that wasn't even alive. So yeah the thralled version would make them worse, since thralls gain tremendous bonuses like a demi-god undead creature.

This, exactly. Thing is I never had a problem with giant sponges because the only time I actually encountered any was during a modded game with playable elves, who are at peace with nature and thus give zero shits about these things.

Then winter came and "not being able to get out of the water" outweighed "not being vulnerable to normal weapons" entirely.

As for the current version, no idea if thralling has any effect on the base creature's tissue strength. This is what makes giant sponges so vulnerable now, and a thralled giant sponge will likely die just as readily if its tissue isn't any less squishy.
