Masks of PowerHello, and welcome to yet another RTD, this one by the name of Masks of Power.
What is Masks of Power?Masks of Power is an RTD in which otherwise ordinary people can call upon masks that grant them certain abilities. All people possess masks, but whether or not a person can call them up is a dfferent story entirely. Not all masks are unique, and a surprising amount of people have the same mask. These masks are sentient beings, however, and have been known to turn on their wielders from time to time.
The SystemRolls
Each action uses a d20. A roll of 1 is the equivalent of a complete and utter Epic Fail, while 20-22 are avrious degrees of Epic Success. Anything above 22 is an Overshoot. 1-8 is various degrees of failure, 8-12 is various degrees of Partial Success, and 12-19 is a normal success.
Bonuses and Maluses
Bonuses and Maluses can be obtained through various means, including but not limited to: Mask Powers, Magical Buffs and Situations.
Situations
Situations are essentially conditions of the terrain and weather. For example, a Fire Mask is less likely to work during the rain, while a Water Mask gets boosted during said weather. Also, movement is likely to be hindered in a swamp.
Masks
Masks are, essentially, objects that cover your face which grant you various powers. They are fully sentient, and not everyone can call theirs up. They may turn on you at anytime, depending on your actions.
All PCs start with the ability to use their mask. I will decide on your mask upon the start of the game.
Health System
The game uses a chunky salsa-style health system. For those who don't know, this means that a cut to the arm is a cut to the arm, not losing 1 HP, and you generally can't survive being thrown into a volcano, barring special circumstance.
Stats
STR: Represents the strength of your character.
SPD: Represents the speed of your character.
DEX: Represents how dextrous your character is.
INT: Represents the general intelligence of your character.
1 point in a stat gives you a 1/2 chance of a +1 bonus.
Every 2 points in a stat gives you a +1 to rolls related to it.
0 in a stat gives you a -1 in rolls related to it.
So a character with STR 3 would get +1 + 1/2 chance of +1.
You get 4 points to distribute at the start.
The Players
The players are, when unmasked, completely ordinary people. They don't have any special superpowers, don't regenerate, and cannot lift up mountains with a high enough strength score. Any such attempts will be ignored, and repeated attempts will lead to being kicked.
The Setting
You live in the World of Syberdis, a world in which gunpowder is forbidden, although weapons utilising it can be acquired through illegal means. It is composed of 3 large continents, although currently only 1 is really important. It is the continent of Syberd-1, the smallest of the 3, and the one in which you shall start.

Appearance: About 6 foot tall, with a muscular physique. His hair and eyes are brown, and he has a goatee.
Personality: He is usually quiet, only speaking when he feels it important and preferring to act. He does not like to partake in idle chatter and will usually answer questions with the shortest response he can. It takes much to make him mad, but his anger is explosive and he can hold a grudge for a long time.

Personality: sociable, happy-go-lucky, with a fixation on strong coffee and pictures of spiders, which adorn her apartment in copious amounts. Likes working in data entry.

Appearance:A hunched over, very pale almost caveman-like, if you can look into his eyes, its color a pale and bleak light blue,he wears very little clothing: loincloth, amulet made out of bone and fingers, and a ring that seems to be made of gold.
Personality:Probably insane, He lives in a cave of similar creatures, up until he was exiled, for no less then stealing half of the entire food supply, and there original intent was execution, but he exiled himself. He thinks quickly but his decisions seem rushed and cruel, but to him((he thinks anyways)) they are the best for him and all his interests, and when he is threatened, unless the fight is in his favor, he can run away at break neck speaks, or, come up and slash a throat just as quick. Because of his old ways, he is not the strongest "man" out there but can survive quite a bit more then the average "man" but because of his rushed thinking, Screed is not the sharpest tool in the shed
