A different kind of bug report
« on: July 13, 2014, 08:56:49 am »

Just started a new fort with 40.02 and, as ever, I took some delicious egg factories birds to cultivate.

Except this time? They're riddled with lice. Four ducks, and everywhere I take them, lice are all over the place. The dorfs haven't caught the lice yet as far as I can tell, but still... EW.

So yeah. Beware. This edition is even more crawling with bugs than you may have thought.

Ducks and pigs root around in the ground for delicious critters to eat, so that's likely where the bugs are coming from.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

This could possibly be used as a new food source. Massed small animal trappers plus some ducks or pigs. If they can root and find vermin anywhere, then food on a glacier is solved.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

But dwarves can't eat vermin. Can they?

What would it be like to live in a world that was copy/pasted? Would we even notice? If not, how many times have we switched celestial harddrives or whatever?

When the dwarves are starving and there's no food, they hunt vermin.

If the vermin is in an animal trap, they can eat it as well. Fairly sure on this, maybe 95%.

Edit:http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/v0.34:Kennel there. The vermin page doesn't mention it. But its there on the kennel page.

It looks like turkeys and pigs got a little bit of balancing thrown in with this version aka known as mandatory cats.
