Well then, this means that I am going to be sending my armies north. I want to send units south, and it's super tempting, and I think that I could probably fight both the Danes and the Mercians with Varee's support (if indeed he is going to fight the Mecians).
But to do it I would need to break my #1 rule: Never fight two opponents at once.
And since fighting two opponents at once and completely splitting forces has ended badly pretty much every single time I've seen it (the only exception being NQT's very lucky early push last game), I'm going to resist the temptation and send all my forces north.

((Also, I would give you an in character response to your vassalage speech Kash, but apparently the lord who was sworn to didn't actually say anything in response, he simply grasped the swearers hand. Plus, I'm pretty bad with speeches, and have no clue how to actually respond))

In 1888 the newly crowned Pictish king swore allegiance to the Irish High King, becoming a vassal state under the ever-expanding Irish hegemony. With the Dane-Mercian alliance still in force, there were now only two unaligned regions in the battle for the British Isles.

Arg. It looks like I may have to delay heading north for a turn to deal with the South-West horde if it decides to attack Whitehaven.

At the moment we are playing till one player (or alliance of players) is in a position where everyone is 100% sure that they win (and give up due to that). Your actions should be such that they maximize your chance of you conquering all the other players (or at least the ones that you aren't in alliance with).

I suppose we could replace you if you really don't want to keep playing.

It'd be a shame but you're welcome to replace out if you're don't want to continue. We're playing until some alliance-bloc has obvious supremacy. At the moment, Ireland-Picts is looking very strong but their ultimate supremacy is by no means certain at this juncture.

Just update now...

The Danes re-enter the Pictish city of North Tor and conquer the old stronghold of Caern Michaels, in the process wiping out the last of the great Pictish Knights of old, leaving the protection of their great realm to the survivors in Maclestone & Fort Montane. Still, as the Welsh move to retake the Danish held cities in their land, and the great Irish legions storm through the North of England, the future success of the Danes is by no means settled. The Welsh, Wessex and Mercia still have great armies: the blood-shed is a long time from being over.
