Charlie: "Good luck man." He strolls out the door, then turns "By the way, I checked and the alarm was off. So you're good on that. See ya round" he goes downstairs, and you hear the front door slam.

You head back down stairs, and search George's pockets. You find his revolver, flashlight, and wallet. A quick check reveals an employee ID, a drivers license, and two credit cards.

Lets read the cards and such. That sounds like a good idea.

The workplace ID is made out to George Lawrence, professor of mythology at the local college. The drivers license is to the same name, as well as the credit cards.

You grab some papers off the floor of the study, and start reading. This process repeats about a thousand times. Half an hour later, you've skimmed mostly school papers, learned some about ancient Egyptians, ancient china, and a scattering of other countries. Nothing solid on the black chest, or anything on your cult. Ugh.

The safe is securely locked. A search of the bookshelf reveals no key.

You tip the cabinet down the stairs. At the bottom, there's a loud crack. Looks like it worked. A quick survey reveals no file system to speak of.
