It slumps over, and disintegrates. When you look closer, you see that it's not actually a beast or human or anything you had imagined. As it disintegrates, hundreds and hundreds or rat corpses spill across the floor. Making it slick with blood. Your head spins and you stumble back, retching.

You swivel your aim up, firing twice. You shots impact nothing except crumbly plaster. You can see daylight through the holes, and there's no sign of whatever dropped the rats.

*pant* *pant* I'm here, guys. Let's see... Eh, nobody thought of bringing a flashlight? How about poking around the walls for a light switch?

You flick the switch on the wall. Nothing happens, the electric's probably been turned off for years.

"Tch. Back in the hall, bust out the window with the bat, look for more doors."

You stumble out of the door, choking down rising bile. You smash out the window, breathing deeply in the outside air. You turn, and count the doors. Six more. Moving to the first, you search it, ceiling and all, and find nothing. The other five reveal much of the same.

"Back downstairs, I suppose. More doors down there, but if there's nothing, we may need to return later oooor tell the guy that there's nobody living here."

You head back downstairs, creeping warily through the building. A quick search reveals nothing on the ground floor.
