The world is going to be shaken to its very foundations the day these mobile devs put as much effort into their game as they do the trailers.

There is a small dev community in China that actually produces the games seen in fake game ads.

I forget where I saw the last one.

I've crapped on Spiderweb Software games for a long time. But watching his GDC talk, man I've really warmed up to him. Funny, self-effacing, humble, tenacious. I may never enjoy his games truly or have the patience to dig into them, but he's totally earned my respect as owning the niche he chose for himself.

Man, Spiderweb shareware demos were my childhood! Exile/Avernum/Geneforge were enchanting in my youth, but it's no mystery I haven't done more than revisit Avernum 1 in the last decade. Fyoras and Thahds and Slithzeraki, man.

Edit: Listening to his presentation holds a whole lot of parallels with the Behind the Bastards podcast episodes on Bill Gates, except Josh Vogel understands his fortune and shortcomings. Totally recommend BtB for humor and learning about shitty people, by the way.

You seen/played Genshin Impact? Looks better on a non-mobile device, but it looks like they put in effort.

agreed, sadly it drains battery a lot, probably because of the high graphics, so yes, lots of effort

and sticky except at the ends, where there’d be a small non sticky ramp that cuts the adhesive away when it slides you up then you can step off

Wendell breaks all of Sophie's crayons and commits various other atrocities

Sophie waits till Wendell is asleep, then beats him nearly to death using a tube sock filled with batteries

I thought that was unnecessarily harsh for a children's book
