I was installing Windows XP Pro SP2 in Bochs to test something out. This happened:

I swear that's in real time.

Looks like a key on the keyboard (or a mouse button) is stuck. Pushing it again usually solves the problem.

I proceeded with the install despite this incredible bug, and the problem persisted. It was so desperately wrong that running something like SuperPi to calculate 16K digits of Pi made it think it took several minutes, despite only taking less than half a minute in real time. The RTC itself was bugged. I couldn't even double-click on anything because it thought that entire seconds had passed between each click.

I went into the CPU settings and increased the IPS (instructions per second) of the emulator, and that "fixed" it, give or take. I don't have the slightest clue why increasing the speed would make the clock go slower.

The only thing I can think of is if increasing the IPS doesn't actually speed up the emulator, but it thinks there should be more instructions per RTC tick.

Point being: if you tell it 1 million instructions is 1 second then the clock advances 1 second every time 1 million instructions are processed, but if you tell it 2 million instructions is 1 second, it'll take twice as many instructions processed for the clock to advance. So, more IPS equals a slower clock, once you've hit the limit of what I presume is single-threaded emulation in Bochs.

Yeah, it seems that the computer has the wrong clock speed stored. It thinks the clock is slower than it really is, so it thinks a single clock pulse takes more time than it really does, leading it to speed up like that.

So the PS5 stream thing happened yesterday, release date and price were revealed along with a number of new and old game trailers.

The hilarious part was that almost every time they did a big PS5 EXCLUSIVE thing at the end of a trailer it had a tiny * and even tinier text at the bottom going "Also available on PC"

Marketing can be such a silly thing at times.

I got over my distaste for Rick and Morty’s pupils and I am much happy.

I have not felt such elation as the snake Christmas episode, when the snakes go back in time to save snake Lincoln from assassination by passing him a note warning him of the pending attempt, and the note reads SSSSSS
