Yeah, basically. The protagonist is a genuinely attractive, intelligent, desirable person-the exact opposite of the typical audience-insert asshole in haremshit series.

The other way (being one of countless faceless losers trying to hit on someone who doesn't want the attention) would hit too close to home for a lot of people, I think, even if it could potentially offer opportunities to examine those social stereotypes.

I kinda think at least dating games/VNs are generally savvy about that trope, or at least more so than haremshit anime. But then I don't really play many of those, so my perception of that might be influenced by the ones I was actually able to play through without wallbanging them.

I just noticed that Cortana (from Halo)'s breasts literally get bigger with each passing game. Come the fuck on Microsoft.

EDIT: looking more closely, I can see that no two Cortanas even look a little bit like eachother, from their little data markings down to obvious things like the shape of their head and proportion of facial features. Did they just not pay attention?

It's also distantly amusing that they deliberately chose to name a central feature of Windows 10 after a character that's featured in tons of porn. I guess that's an old joke by now though.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I recognize that last character or the name of the game she's from. I mean obviously there's Halo Cortana, Halo 2 Cortana, and Halo 3 Cortana, but they've got some random character from some completely unrelated game tacked onto the end.

But she's specifically based on a real (in-universe) person, Doctor Halsey, and the visual representation is a part of that which Cortana allegedly can't change.

Halsey doesn't look like Cortana in any depiction of her that I've seen, so it comes full circle really.
