Quote from: For Love of Magic, chapter 1
"I hope you enjoy the gold you extorted from an eleven year old child." He said, his words clipped and angry.

"That is the best kind of gold." Gorefist replied, feeling quite pleased with himself.
Dunno how the rest is going to turn out, but now I want to read the collected adventures of Gorefist the Extraordinary Banker and anything that manages that gets its chance.

Decreased operation of the intellectual habit, when air is a type of accident or negligence, or is integrated into the admiration of fools. (spam email, probably written by Google Translate) [my guess: people are stupid when they accidentally don't breathe, or if fools admire them]

For many at a funeral, it is not the end of the fire, (ditto)
That almost means something. [The dead have it easy...]

Quiz: Are you not also forms of work? In export sad helps in the same clock. A global rise Pulps injury. Classical Books he believes that after the ashes. Wit! Is but a noise at the door of the tomb, and the like.

There was an AMA on reddit by a person who trains giant rats to detect landmines and other giant rats to detect tuberculosis.  A few of the questions after she left.

>What is your least favorite land mine?

>Has a rat ever detected tuberculosis inside of a landmine?

>What's to stop these rats from building biological weapons? Is there any ties to ISIS?

>If I put Land-Mines under my sink will Rats finally start steering clear of my apartment?

>How many times do the rats have to get blown up before they learn how to detect the mines?

>How would a rat react, if say, there was a landmine that had tuberculosis, and, how would you cure said landmine / defuse that situation?

>Do you have any rats that can find car keys? Ive been looking for like 20 mins. Do you know where I left them?

>You ever have a rat where they just aren't getting the hang of tuberculosis and they get shipped off to landmine division?

>Can you train rats to run our government? Our current rats aren't doing an adequate job.

The stupid man stays awake all night
And worries about everything;
He's tired out when the morning's come
And all's just as bad as it was.

Norse Eddic Poetry. Written down at least 800 years ago, orally present who knows how long before that. Still relevant. :)

It gets better: Eventually you build up enough of a chronic sleep debt that you can't remember what you were upset about an hour after it upset you. Keep going and it goes down to seconds.

Spoiler: This affects everything else too.

The foolish man thinks that everyone
is his friend who laughs with him;
he doesn't notice though they say nasty things about him
when he sits among the wise.

There are other verses in here which are just so relevant. However, I'm not going to be typing all of them out. The particular poem is the highly didactic "Sayings of the High One" if you want to read it.

Yeah, I didn't really find it funny, either. People being jerks to other people doesn't really amuse me.
You seem to have misplaced your sense of humour.
People being jerks to other people is like, the cornerstone of comedy. The only un-funny thing about the prank in question was the unpleasant possibility of a head clash, chipped tooth or bitten tongue. Eugh. :-\ Still funny, though.

Quote
Herds know the hour of their going home
and turn them again from the grass;
but never is found a foolish man
who knows the measure of his maw.

The miserable man and evil minded
makes of all things mockery,
and knows not that which he best should know,
that he is not free from faults.

This is a good one.

Upon submitting a scholarship, the application website spat out a huge PHP error at the top of the page:

School websites, school websites never change...
That is one error, five times.  WTF?

It's SOP for browsers to retry a couple of times if something goes wrong. Doing so makes sure the problem isn't just a random hiccup.

Ahaha, thanks for sharing this. That fanfiction is actually pretty good.
Edit: There is, however, some rather spicy (by which I mean sexual) content in it. Just a warning for anyone else who might feel like reading it.

Same poem:

He has to speak fairly and offer precious things
the man who wants a lady's love;
praise the body of the radiant woman:
he who flatters, gets.

I love Old Norse poetry.
