While appearing to be nice enough to let you sleep on the top bunk of a bunk-bed, he becomes more unpleasant in the morning.

Hahaha... I could totally imagine that happening in re-enactment groups. Probably has. :P

I'd watch a comedy series based around a unit of fantasy of medieval soldiers.

Local elections are being held soon, so various candidates are putting up posters around town to advertise. On the way to work today I saw a new one - CUMMING FOR CASHMERE.

In my Mythology class, we're reading the Enuma Elish, the Babylonian creation myth. The gist of it is that the principal male deity, Marduk, slays the principle female divinity, Tiamat the sea goddess (who is also his great-grandmother,) and becomes king of the gods.

What's funny, though, is, well. If Gilgamesh was the first recorded tragic hero, Marduk was the first recorded Marty Stu. He's the son of three other principal male divinities. He is explicitly stated to be a "double god" so he would be stronger and look cooler. He has 10 halos (the other gods only have 1) to make him "awesome to behold". His abilities specifically entail having stronger magic than everybody else and the ability to control storms, and his possessions include an invincible lightning chariot, six monsters named after fearsome adjectives (4 of which he hooks up to his chariot,) and some sort of gigantic net that is somehow capable of capturing Tiamat. The only reason he kills Tiamat is because she gets angry when he starts screwing around with the wind. Additionally, he only agrees to kill Tiamat and her eleven invincible monsters if the other gods make him the king afterward, and his reasoning for his ability to slay her lies in the fact that he's a man and therefore stronger.
